Just a quick question

Does anyone know of a turbo project that has been done with all the emissions still in tact and functional?
I have been looking around this site for the last couple days and i haven't been very successful (yes, i have been using the "search" button" haha) but since i couldn't really find what i'm looking for, maybe someone has something bookmarked. That's the kind of thing i want to do for my car, have a turbo but still have it pass emissions.

"Pass Emissions" in what sense?

Re: Just a quick question

Just so i could drive up, get it tested and get the slip saying that i passed. I live in Boise, Idaho so they're aren't as strict as some places.

I guess the main thing is that I'm going to make my own turbo manifolds and i still want to use the EGR and the tubes that go into the stock manifolds. Or if there is a way to bypass it all, and still have it pass. but i doubt that can happen though.

Re: Just a quick question

Everything is still on mine except the a.i.r. pump, and associated tubes/plumbing. My turbo log has air tube connections on it which are currently capped. It would be relatively easy on a mild setup like mine to keep a stock computer (probably running code 59) and all emissions working. There is plenty of room with my single turbo for the air pump to stay on the car as well as my AC (which is still on and working)

Alright, yeah with my car I don't want to go more than 10lbs. So yours still passes emissions and what not? But AC is definitely on my to do list. Idaho summers can get pretty hot haha

Re: Just a quick question

F-Body Demon, if my friend would finish rebuilding the engine in his 89 vette I'd make a video that would blow your mind. He runs 6's in the 1/8 on a 2.59 rear with a stock TPI intake on a 383 and a lil over 20 lbs of boost

GTA Ryan, I probably wouldn't pass at this point since I went with a Megasquirt. I don't have EGR working right now. Well I might be able to pass a sniffer test but fortunately Florida isn't doing anything right now. When they do though I would have no problem making everything work again. It just means more wires and crap under the hood on an already busy looking intake system.

Oh that's got to be nice not having to worry about that haha. I remember looking at your build a little while ago. From the pictures it looked like you only have the turbo running off only one side of the engine. Is that correct?

Re: Just a quick question

There is a crossover from the driver side manifold to the passenger side turbo log. The nice thing about the single turbo setup on the passenger side is the exhaust looks almost completely stock from under the car. The downpipe comes down right where the factory Y pipe merges. Makes it easy to keep a stock location cat.

Re: Just a quick question

Okay that makes so much more sense now haha. I was really confused for a while because it looked like it was running off one side in the pictures. But when i do put a turbo on my car I'm going to put it on the passenger side for that very reason. I want my car to look completely stock so it has the "sleeper" mentality.

Oh, I've got another question. Do you know of any company that sells turbo manifolds that'll bolt straight on? The reason of being is that I'll make my own if I have to, but if I can buy a pair that'll bolt in and fit right (I'm told the ebay ones don't even think about fitting) I'll just do that so it makes my life a little easier.

But thank you for all your insight.
