Bottle Location

Guys, this might seem like a ridiculously noobish question but so far I have done little research into Nitrous because It's still a ways away from being done. I was wondering however can you mount the bottle anywhere, or does it have to be in the open for some reason? I tossed my spare tire and jack so the spare tire compartment is empty and I was thinking about hiding the bottle there for a sleeper install.

Re: Bottle Location

I am 95% sure there is no reason it should need to be in the open, should be able to put it wherever you like, as long as its not next to the engine or exhaust pipe or something silly like that. And I am pretty sure people have put them in the spare tire or rear glovebox area before.

I have mine mounted in the spare tire well. Blowout tube is routed outside of the car.

Hope that sucker never hits the top terminals on the battery, yikes. Mine stands up in the spare tire spot with the blowdown tube exiting the bottom of the well.

The picture doesn't show but there's 1 inch clearance between the bottle and the terminal. The terminal cover in the pic was not on all the way. Since the pic was taken I've added rubber insulation just incase the bracket decides to give way.

Re: Bottle Location

I have my battery in the same spot. I will mount my bottle in the same location. I'm glad you posted a picture because I would of been too lazy to try and make it fit. Now I know it's possible. Are you using a battery holder?

Re: Bottle Location

Really, is it the plastic black one, that costs $4.99? Do you have a picture without the bottle in place? I would like to see the mounting points for the brackets. Is your tray resting against that metal piece/bracket support?

Re: Bottle Location

I do not have a picture without the bottle in place. The tray is bolted the bracket on the bottom and I bolted one bottle holder to the spare tire bracket and the other to the rear bracket.

Re: Bottle Location

Thanks a lot!! I like how you grounded the battery to the Spare Tire Holder, ingenuity...
Is that Black Electric Tape I see on the Bottle Brackets? Appear's that one bracket only has one bolt holding it in place?

Yeah that's electrical tape. I had to modify the bracket to match the other one. The rubber coating melted off in the process of welding the bracket so I wrapped it in electrical tape for now. The front bracket is held on with one bolt. Very sturdy and the bottle doesn't move at all.

Re: Bottle Location

Why did you have to modify one bracket to match the other? Why was modification of the bracket necessary? I see the weld, but can't figure it out...

Thats because one bracket sits higher than the other and i needed them even so the bottle could fit in the tire well.
