nitrous line question

ok, so I bought a cobalt nitrous gauge (electrical) and the gauge bottle adapter thing (-4n) and I threaded it all the way in and half the nitrouse line is blocked and my buddy said that was way to far and to shorten the sender. My other buddy whos been into muscule since it was born said that its suppose to stick into the path way and that the nitrous will go around. I didnt hear what my other buddy said before I left the parts store (borrowing their wrenches: 19mm 22mm)

so I put sealer on and had threaded it all the way then heard the first buddy then I backed the sender to 1/3 in to the nitrous line (from 1/2 way in to just 1/3 in ) and I took it out to the car opened the bottle and didnt hear any leaks.

great hope fully im done with fighting this thing, but....the next day I noticed the pressure was gone, as in 0 psi gone...

So if I open the bottle dont hit it and than close it, it should retain that pressure, shouldn't it? I also opened the bottle another time (checking back up on it) then closed it and the pressure started riseing a bit ( I was driving, so I guess the line was getting engine heat causing expansion...

Then I opened it again and the pressure went -down- close to what it was. Whats going on with here???

I thinking I need to take the sender out wipe the sealer and reapply and tighten it all the way and say **** it.

---what do you guys think?

I dont want to be leaking my rasberry juice (NOS bottle)

Re: nitrous line question

Definately leaking somewhere. On my old system, when i cracked the bottle and then shut it off, it would still hold nitrous pressure in the main line but would slowly leak out at the solenoid due to a leak in the fitting/connection. Its not suppose to leak.

When you shut the bottle valve, you gotta purge the line to get the excess out. Yours seems to be doing that by itself. Not sure if its the sender for the gauge or not. I never used a setup like that, I had my pressure gauge mounted on the bottle so in the staging lanes I could see it while it warmed up, then I went racing.
I wouldnt think you'd want anything blocking the nitrous line size as that will limit flow and thus reduce the shot size!

Re: nitrous line question

Its supposively hard on the solenoids to leave it under constant pressure. I just like to make sure my lines are empty just incase a solenoid accidentally fails and leaks nitrous into my motor without the fuel being on. So whenever I shut down, i turn bottle off and purge the lines.
