OPINIONS ON HYPOTHETICAL TWIN TURBO

Even tho my 383 isn't even running and tuned yet, I'm already thinking about a "little more power"! I remember back some years ago there was a company that had a twin turbo kit that mounted the turbos in behind the turn signals. I found a company that builds kits like that for mustangs, so I can't see why it wouldn't work on our cars. What I like about that idea is it would keep all the excessive heat out of the engine compartment. Also, to keep things on a "budget", I was thinking about using 2 holeset hx35's off a dodge cummins. They can be picked up all day long for 250-300 bucks. I don't think they would work for a 1000hp outlaw drag car, but I think they would make for a really stout street car. Maybe 600hp? Just figured I'd throw it out here for some of you turbo guys to chime in.

They'll push a lot more than 600hp... probably top out closer to 900. I'd probably suggest something a little smaller if all you're looking for is 600hp

You can mount the turbos up front. You just need a oil return pump system to get the drains back to the oil pan. Build a mini reservoir under each turbo with a AN line to a pump and back to the pan. Downpipes would have to work themselves back into the engine bay and under the headers or under the k-member. It would be best to have a tubular k member to allow for more room

Re: OPINIONS ON HYPOTHETICAL TWIN TURBO

Thanx for the input guys! As far as horsepower, I'm not looking for "only" 600...I just threw that out for an estimate. I'll take as much as I could get! I'm all about going as fast as you can with what you can afford. Hx40's are a little bigger and not much more money. I just think it would be an interesting budget build. I realize a tube crossmember would really help for ground clearance. The oil return was my other concern with the turbos mounted that low. Anybody know of any turbo experts here in the northeast I can consult with when I decide I wanna try this?
