What can I do for more power? ZZ4/TPI/P600B
What can I do for more power? ZZ4/TPI/P600B
I have a P600B procharger on a ZZ4 motor with a TPI intake. The fuel pump is a 255 and has 42 lb/hr fuel injectors. I'm curious to hear from you all that are "in the know" as to what you feel my biggest horsepower limiting factors are. I am thinking it is the heads, but am not sure. Would love to hear thoughts as well as how much extra power I could see.

Lots of possibilities... didn't you just put this together recently? Have you tracked it or been on a dyno yet? I'm curious to see what kind of power you are getting since my new engine is a modded ZZ3 with a stock TPI intake. The only flow mods are a different cam (224/224 .530/.537 and 114 lobe sep) and some pocket porting on the heads. Other than that just supporting mods such as forged pistons (24cc dish), head bolts etc. I was shooting for 8.4:1 compression but couldn't find any .051" cometics so I went with .040" for about 8.6:1.
As for the heads & intake, they are a really good match in terms of port flow on the intake side. The biggest benefit you would see from a head swap is.. well two benefits I suppose: lower compression and better exhaust flow. Of course the latter assumes you have a good exhaust system and headers to back it up.
I'm expecting to make 550 rwhp with mine (let me rephrase, a 3800 lb car that runs 6.99 or better in the 1/8) and I'm willing to run up to 20 psi to get there. So I hope you don't have to change the heads to get where you want to go LOL.. or I might be in trouble!

Ah, I didn't think at all about the compression drop from the heads - that would be nice! I don't have a clue what boost I'm seeing at all. Heck, I haven't even felt its power in about 8 years. That answers your question btw - it was put together many moons ago. I just bought the car back from the person I sold it to
If different heads/intake means a boat load more power, I may consider it in the not-too-terribly-distant future.

Heads/cam/intake will all be limiters at one point and then the blower becomes the limiter as its a P600 blower. Right now I would say stock TPI is the limiting factor. Bigger runners/base or stealth ram or similar will yeild great power gains but I say work on the tune first and then go from there.
Cant tell where you are going if you dont know where you are at now.

I absolutely agree - this was more of a wishlist question for the future, more than me actually being ready to buy something now. As it all sits right now, I just can't wait to get her running right as-is

All I can say is with enough boost, the stock intake can do pretty well. My friend ran 115 mph in the 1/8 with a stock TPI intake on some world product heads above a 383. Somewhere in the low 20's psi. That car has been my motivation for my project. In fact I'm using his oil feed line on my turbo LOL
