Re: pics of a turbo project

there is about 2" clearance to exhaust housing. the wastegate top is 1/2"
away but it should not generate as much heat.
the turbos are the ebay 57mm stage 3 turbine.

Re: pics of a turbo project

about that color ...
it is not staying. the guy that owns the car painted it
before i got involved. probably be some silver/grey
variant to compliment the body color.
the headers are the ebay pieces i cut both collectors off
changing the angle on the driverside and moving the
collector on the passenger side a few inches up and over.
the #7 primary tube hits the steering column so i still
have to cut it up and move it. I do not reccomend these
headers. the owner of the car bought them and i said i
could make them work.

thanxs for the compliments

Re: pics of a turbo project

this engine is just the basic midly warmed over 355 right now.
It should make 400 rwhp with this setup.
The turbos can support 600 or more rwhp with different heads , cam and intake.
All the supporting stuff is there fuel pump , ignition , exhaust etc for future mods.

if those are the 57mm units 57mm inducer 76mm exducer on the cold side they will do well over 400rwhp

as a pair they should be capable of more like 7-800 rwhp and close to 4 digit hp at the crank

all depends on which turbine wheels and housings u have

Re: pics of a turbo project

yea it has a dual plane intake on it right now, low boost should minimize distribution issues. like I said it is a pretty mild engine right now and I am only shooting for 400 rwhp for now. maybe do a head intake cam swap this next winter.

Re: pics of a turbo project

On your steering shaft, use the Jeep steering shaft upgrade. Its much thinner with no rag joint or huge plastic cover and helps a lot.

I have already cut the offending primary tube and moved it out the way for this application but I would be interested for future stuff

Re: pics of a turbo project ( it lives 6/11/13 )

finally after what seems like an eternity we were able to start the engine. there were a few leaks on the checkout stage as usual with a complete build. then after loading a timing map in the msd and setting base timing we hit the key and magic happened, IT STARTED.
I have built a lot of cars over the years but i was so glad this one fired up and sounded good.
Anyway here are a couple of the latest pics.

Re: pics of a turbo project

I have been slowed up a bit fighting clutch / trans problems. The biggest problem being to much run out at the transmission flange . I welded and filed the dowel pin holes and corrected that and now I can shift gears ( still have not drove it yet) .

Little by Little .
