Anit Lag system(basic)

If one was just to retard the timing to 5*atdc or so for only launches at the racetrack to build boost(if it would build boost) How hard would that be on the valves and other componets in the way.

The reason I ask is because I am curious about that idea.

Is a 2 step box nessisary to make the anti lag work? Reason being, I may not have enough cash to get one before the spring time comes.

The idea another said to me, was to add a momentary button on the EST wire for the timing. Set the base timing very very low. 5atdc or so. I could then go in and set the reference timing point to that timing, and not effect my timing table. Now when I push the button the timing would then be what the base was(5*atdc) Again This is all theory and im not even sure it would be sufficient without more fueling.

If I could build boost with this set up and hold it at 2-3k rpms at the line without a low RPM limiter, would it sound plausable???

Im not looking at building tons of boost. But 5-10psi would be nice.

Thanks for any input. Remember its just a thought/idea.

Re: Anit Lag system(basic)

without the 2 step on an auto car u would add timing around the converter stall rpm.
on an auto car if u retard the timing power falls off and the engine wont be able to stall up the converter

with the 2 step it alows u to wot while the 2 step holds the engine rpm from climbing
besdies that the 2 step allows raw fuel into the headers this is what really makes the antilag work

once that raw fuel is in the headers the really late ignition timing allows the fuel in the cyl to still be burning when the ex valve opens this ignitites the raw fuel in the header causinig a ton of heat and presure pre turbine in turn spinning up the turbo

yes antilag is hard on ex valves and turbo turbines from the huge increase in egt's , but this only becomes an issue if u are on the antilag system for a long time say 7-10 seconds depending on how well the system works

for the short time u are waiting for the lights to come down on the tree will not hurt anything

my staging actions are like this

#1 let other car prestage
#2 prestage , wait for other car to stage
#3 activate antilag system and gently roll into stage beam , once stage beam come son lock he brakes and go wot . by the time the 3rd yellow comes on u will be ready to launch

now u will have to adjust ur procedure according to ur setup and turbo some turbos/systems may nee dmore time on the antilag to get to desired boost or less time

the only thing missing from the 2step/est bypass method is the ability to add extra fuel to the fuel map to really get the turbo spinning up

in therory u could add fuel in the 1-4 psi range or up to under 1-2 psi of how much boost u will launch at

say u luanch at 10 psi u could add fuel to the 1-8psi range to help the turbo spin up when on the antilag since on the track u will never see lower boost then ur launch setting

this woudl have to be a track only tune though since on the street u would see those 1-8psi areas of the fuel map

Re: Anit Lag system(basic)

save ur money man lil bit each paycheck

this is the cheapest all in one option i could find u

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/msd-6421
jegs has it for the same price if u have a prefrence on who u order from

the next cheapest option is to buy a used msd 6al and then buy a 2 step moudle which is about 70 bucks

honestly if i was going to spend that much money i would buy a megasquirt and get a ton more features the 7730 dont have ,

250 for an ignition box /311 bucks for ms1 v3.0 + harness or u can buy the adapter board for 15$'s( subtract 70 from the 311 sinc eu wont need a harness) and it plugs right into ur factory harness bringing in the cost well under the ignition box

buy ur own solder together kit and u can have the standalone for around 157 bucks , if u cant solder or whatnot id even offer to solder it together for u no charge just pay for shipping it out to u

i know u liek ur 7730 stuff but the feature list of the ms is huge
