B&M 174 Supercharger on stock engine?

Hey i found a supercharger that someone is selling and its the 174 B&M. He says it will make up to 14 psi with a 6 inch pulley, are his facts right? Also, I have a stock 305 tpi in my car. Could I run this supercharger without running into too many problems?? I also have an aftermarket 2 in. cowl hood but ill have to see if it would even fit haha.

Thanks for the input!

This would be similar to this: https://www.thirdgen.org/weiand142install

You'd have to convert over to carb. You'd need a blower carb. You'd need to regulate the fuel pressure down to carb levels 6-8 psi instead of 40+ psi. That would take either changing the fuel pump or a bypass regulator like a Mallory 4309.

If it really makes 14 psi that's way too much. Too much Compression and iron heads on the stock motor for that must boost.

So in other words yeah quiet a bit of work. Might be better off just looking at the P1SC Procharger in the classifieds section currently. That should bolt right up and let you keep your TPI setup and it's intercooled which means more boost.

Well I will agree with fireturd350 But there are a few other ways you can go about it, Although I think the 174 is a bit big , you will need to lower its psi from 14 to something closer to 6psi, , instead of going with a carb you could use a tbi and a different fuel pump, Maybe a tbi from a 454 or holley makes some good ones,
Really that 174 is to big for a 305, the 142 or 144 is better for that size motor,.
Now if you really want to get creative, Someone on this site once mentioned using one of these blowers and welding bungs for 8 fuel injectors, in the manifold and using the the plenum from a HSR , I see this to be the best route as it helps solve the heat issue that these mini blowers had at upper rpms . Then tune your computer to run it safely ,

Yeah I was starting to add to mine about EFI could be used to convert it originally when I posted, but decided to just remove that part just to avoid extra confusion and complexity.

Normally root blowers have fairly tight tolerances between the rotors to prevent boost from leaking back out as they turn. Fuel is used to help cool down the heated rotors. From what I've read it's usually a good idea to open up the tolerances on the rotors (clocking) to compensate for that since normally if it's EFI the fuel will be injected after the rotors near the base of the intake. I've read articles of guys using 6-71 or 8-71s and having a professional shop such as The Blower Shop opening up the tolerances by reclocking the way the lobes are set to be used with EFI at the base.

There are of course some occasions that is not true such as when the injectors are mounted before the blower. In that case fuel will still be able to cool down the rotors.

Either way when using a FI method you would need some computer tuning or maybe a boost reference fuel pressure regulator might work. I know most of the fuel injected supercharger kits just include a boost referenced regulator so it increases the pressure on the injectors as the boost increases, which is suppose to help keep the Air / Fuel ratio in balance. They also usually include an inline pump to help the fuel flow rate.
