What is wrong with it?

I got my 2 bar sensors from ebay, but I went for GM part numbers.

I'll have to look at it when I get home, I don't have it written down and my ebay history only goes back 60 days.

However, I wouldn't say it's junk just yet. For starters, not all 2 bar maps are equal which is why most aftermarket ECM's have a map calibration table for voltgage vs kpa.

Are you going from a 1 bar to a 2/3 bar? What is the voltage of the sensor at key-on, but not while running?

I use it with stock gm pigtail and works fine for my gm ecm. Its suppose to be a gm based sensor replacement.

Re: 3bar map sensor ...

3-bar MAP sensor:

(AC-Delco #213-1562) = 12223861 (formerly 16040749, AC-Delco #213-101)

At sea level, key-on, engine-off, the output voltage should be about 1.6 V, and report about 104 KPa. Use the WUD diagnostic display for this.

Are you sure? If you look at the weatherpack conn there are "slits" in the "tubes" for the pinouts. The 1 bar MAP has a different configuration from the 2 and 3 bar map ones. Check the corresponding tangs in this pic

Yeah, I've always used a razor and added the new slits to my connector as sourcing a 2bar map connector was difficult locally.

A 1 bar plug/connector shouldn't fit a 2/3 bar map.

Re: 3bar map sensor ...

I took the GM part number to o'reillys and they crossed it, and ordered a "BWD" brand sensor. Works great and seems to be better made than the ebay peice

Re: 3bar map sensor ...

Let me double check my pigtail source. I thought it was a gm based map pigtail and it does work with msd 3 bar no problem.

I dont remember exactly but i may have bought the gm 3 bar map pigtail from diyautotune. I know it was not a factory gm 1 bar pigtail, didnt mean for it to sound that way. Not sure if gm ever made a 3 bar map car? I guess so since there are part numbers. The pigtail did say gm 3 bar map sensor pigtail

I suspect a diesel application, perhaps 3500, 4500, 5500 truck would have a 3 bar if it wasn't MAF. I know my dump truck would make around 40psi of boost.
At around 1,000 foot lbs of torque that thing was a rocket.

Re: 3bar map sensor ...

The 3-bar MAP sensor was used in the '89 Turbo trans Am (3rd gen Firebird ). Although, IIRC, may had the +5V and GND terminals reversed from the 3-bar MAP sensors made shortly thereafter & today.

I too either cut new slots in the connectors for the keys, or snap the keys off inside of the MAP connector. Many times the keys snap off clean with a little pressure from a pair of long nose pliers. It is best to only do the key-snap on the sensors that have the plastic insert. Pull the insert out to snap thems off.

To add, if not going over 15 psi you are better off with the 2-bar MAP.
