6-71 type supercharger for TBI. Is this feasible?
6-71 type supercharger for TBI. Is this feasible?
Hey Folks.
I'm a first time poster with a bone stock '92 RS. I would like to do something kind of on the original side with the induction system. I have always loved the look of things like 6-71 style superchargers and tri-power and stuff. I was wondering if there is a way to stick a 6-71 style blower on the 350 I plan on putting in and use a TBI AND keep it emissions legal? How would I tune the thing? If I wanted to use a blower like that, would I have to go with carbs? Would the car still pass emissions if I reverted to carbs?
If that isn't possible, would there be any way of implementing a multiple TBI manifold setup? If so, any ideas on how to fine tune it?
Just curious. Thanks for the help

I don't know if it is possible to keep it emissions-leagal, but other than that ... why not. I think that it would work. If it works with a carb it should work with a TBI.
Holley makes a roots-style blower kit for tbi motors, although it's not the 6-71, but is the smaller blower. Sounds like it's just what you're looking for. You can check it out on their site. Price was $2900 at Summit last I checked.

the holley roots kit for tbi motors(actually was a B&M unit but holley bought there blower division) is technically discontinued. you can not currently order it from any of the catalogs, but i called holley directly and asked about it and they will still sell it to the public. it si designed to make about 6psi on a 350(which eqwuates to about 7psi on a 305) and is supposed to deliver a 50-65% power increase in an other wise stock engine. it is completely emissions compliant and even has CARB(communist air resources board) approval.
my suggestion is to go to holley'
s site and look it up since they do still list it, just don't mention you intend to put it on a 305, they got a little uptight when i said that
it is actually something i am considerign for my next 305 build up
