Max effort Procharged Superram build... What to build???
So now that I am wrapping up my HC Ls1/T56 driver, I want to get back to the bird.
Short story, my dad bought the Formula in 2001 and destroyed the motor in 2004ish. He built another 350 (.040) over with Trickflow 195 heads, Superram, and a Powermax 2032 cam. He absolutely loved the superram. I got the car in 2006 and ended up destroying the engine in 2010, which I rebuilt and put in forged pistons and an XFI 268 cam.
My father passed away from cancer in 2011, so I decided I want to build the car around his favorite part... the superram. While I know it isn't the best flowing, it is what it is, and I am going to go for it.
I plan to have it ported and run a D1SC. The car is a street car with a T56 and a 9". I want to run a Dart block and aim for well over 700 to the wheels.
What CI, compression ratio, and heads? Looking for build ideas. Thanks!

I did a 383 tpi procharged car couple yrs back. Afr 195 head, big tube runner and aftermarket base. I think 9.5:1 comp. tko 5 spd. 224/230 xfi lobe cam
Made 520's whp i think it was at like 7-7.5 psi boost lol. Very stout. A superram would help extend rpm range and make more power. 15 psi would likely pick up to 700 hp.
I would do something similar 383 cubes, if using oem block i would splay cap the bottom end. Check with pro gram engineering for caps or cipco industries. Dart block is ideal. Shp would work well
If pump gas, keep it 9-9.5:1 comp. get a custom blower cam. Good hyd roller stuff. Good 195-210cc head would work. Port base to match as best you can. That will get there running that blower hard enough

I plan to do a forged dart block... I was thinking AFR 195 heads. Just wasn't sure what cubes to go with. It will be pump gas and tuned with an EBL ECU.
I know going with 400+ isn't much more than a 383, but I have heard of issues with a guy running 400+ cubes with a welder/ported 1206 gasket superram. I think he had some sort of lean or detonation issues that was solved with a single plane.
I will be running emissions and dyno don shorty headers. It is a California car.

If emissions then i probably would keep cubes smaller but i dont know much about that type of build. 700 whp and emissions legal doesnt sound like it belongs in same sentence
Guys in cali claimed to have gotten some decent sized cams to pass in 355-383 motors. I dont know if anyone has done 400" plus
Dart block 4" vs 4.125" bore is same price. Crank rods pistons same price so normally i would say go for the cubes, but the D1 is relatively small blower and has worked very well on 350-383 inch motors including lsx type deals so i would stay around there for cubes

No, but the D1sc isn't either. That's why I also have a P1SC I can pop on real quick...

350 CI? That's awesome! Maybe I'll have to sell the D1SC and go F1... I'll keep my P1SC just in case...

Re: Max effort Procharged Superram build... What to build???
I ended up buying a car and having a 388 stroker balanced/forged rotating assembly fall in my lap. I might just buy a dart block and go with it for my firebird. Any thoughts? Looks like going with a cog setup might be the ticket to success? I know the SBC procharger brackets have some issues with belt slip.
Tom, are you running a stealthram? I have a couple superrams, a First Fuel Injection, and a stealthram laying around. Being my father loved the superram, it's most likely what I will be using. Is your stealtram still a 1205 gasket? Or are you running a 1206 with the 230 heads?

bully the problem that i had was my head intake was way larger then the stealth ram. i had to get extra wide gaskets to cover the the gap near the valve cover. a friend of mine that used to be on here had the same problem but he never figured it out
