Cam decision

Hi so i believe i have everything figured out i am going to rebuild my l98 with Eagle Street Performance Rotating Assemblies B13403E030 and then add Chevy performance vortec heads then once i have the money add a procharger to it.

Any suggestions would be a great help.

Much more to it than that. Members would need to know where you plan on keeping the engine in terms of RPM range, how much stall, what type of gears, tire size, which head unit from Procharger, etc., before recommending a camshaft. Never ever throw parts at an engine without considering those things first, otherwise you'll toss in a cam and be forced to tailor to the cam itself, which equates to an unhappy owner in the end who then looks for reasons to explain why he likes his setup, but really doesn't...

Re: Cam decision

It is worth the time and money to call Crower, Comp, Howards or any other custom cam company and have them spec it for you and build you a cam for your set up. I just had Crower do one for my BBC ProCharged motor. They are going to want all the specs for the car and motor build to make sure you get the right thing.

Bottom end sounds good, but I question why the junk heads lol

A comp-503 (224/230 .502/.510 on 112) works great on a mildly blown 355 with heads that flow 230-240cfm, 3.73 gears, 26" tires.

I agree with you though, the whole build should be on paper long before the credit card comes out of the wallet.

Re: Cam decision

Okay i can give you my plans for my car as for the rpm range im looking for something low kinda like it is stock with the tpi, tires for the rear 275,40,r17 for the stall its a 2,400 stall procharger will be p1sc and for the gears i was thinking that i could run stock 3.42 gears

And why the vortec heads its because they are cheap and the flow well

I would choose a cam between 218 and 224 on a 114, split, single, dual, etc, is user preference...

Not at all, that is a good cam to work with.

It only has 38º overlap, perfect for the lower RPM daily driver, and is boost friendly.
