Do you remember your first time....hitting IT!
I hardly post on this section of the forums but with such a rise of turbo cars..power adders in general.Id like to hear that magical time you guys first felt the rush of power that hooked you in for life! Whether it was from nitrous..turbo or supercharged punch that threw you into your seat.Let the new guys who are thinking of going joining the club know..how your first time was.
I havent had my turbo build very long but Ill never forget my first time.Being a passenger and feeling the hit is one thing. Its another to be the driver and pilot what feels like warp speed and get giddy of part fear and a thirst for more.
When i first got my turbo setup running..wondering what the hell i got myself into.I was a die hard n/a torquey motor kinda guy and that was from my love of tpi cars. But that night on my maiden voyage hitting what felt like 100psi boost(more like 7psi) and how the mph just shot up with no end insight.Like my car was on roids and taking me to the moon as the front end charged up.I remember at first going from a low roll in 2nd and put my foot down..wondering where is my power..and then the turbo began to come alive..tires breaking lose more and more as rpms climbed.I was sold. And i wanted to another hit..over and over again.Boost is a drug.its not easy to drive around town and not build enough boost just to hear the bov release.I dont know if i can go back to just n/a either.I got a new daily driver cts-v1..and all i can hear it say is..boost me..do it..DO IT!

Haha, I remember my first time, and back then it seemed fast on the street. Then again, back then 12's and 11's were considered fast and were ruling the streets...
Very true, but as fast as you think your car is, until you get on one of these, you'll never experience what boost speed really is. I just got back into bikes after about a decade long hiatus, and man, things have really changed lol. Sick...
Edit;
... they really did.

Don't hate me for this one, but my first time with a turbo charged car was with my ex's brother's girlfriend's Ford Probe GT. After I helped him with the oil change, he told me to take it for a spin. I learned two things that day, turbo lag and the "oh s**t" when it finally came online.

First time for me was a test drive in a brand new '86 Regal T-Type turbo.
I really wanted a T-Type, because it was just a bit sneakier than buying the Grand National, and every bit as fast.
I was 23, so they wouldn't let me test drive the car alone...but when the salesperson insisted I "punch it", I didn't wait for him to ask twice. He turned white as a sheet, and began suggesting we might want to start heading back.
I wasn't able to quite make the numbers work for buying the car, and I've driven a few turbocharged cars since, but nothing like that first time in that Regal put nearly so large a grin on my face.

First big boost experience(s) for me came from a 1999, 24 valve dodge cummins, 5spd. At first it was just slow and fun but it was my brother's truck. What seemed like piles of money later it was a tough truck to drive because the injectors were much too big, pair that with a large turbo and you had a big smoke show until the turbo lit. Lots of fun in that old truck.
MY first boosted car was a C5 corvette with a rear mounted turbo system, was it the best turbo vette? No, did it make REALLY cool noises? HELL YES. I'll post a link here

Oh the first time...lol! First "fast" car (it was 1988) was a friends all motor 12 second Camaro. I was hooked! First nitrous car was another friend's 88 IROC with nitrous. Scared the crap out of me! We all know our stock speedos stop at 145. He had this new (back then) digital thing on his dash that when the speedo stopped, it kept climbing...150, 155, 160. 164 and he let off! The poor mustang we were racing was was long gone. Few years later got my first ride in a grand national. Fun, but stock. When did I get the turbo bug? When I bought my first dodge Daytona, lol! Few years ago a got around to buying another Shelby turbo Z. A couple backyard upgrades and that old school ride would hang all day with a bolt on sti. Sorry to babble, but this post brought back a lot of memories, lol!

Yep! Back in the late 90s after losing by very wide margin to her in a street race this nice young lady let me drive her RX7 twin turbo. I can tell you it put a big smile on my face. Very fast.

Re: Do you remember your first time....hitting IT!
Sorry. I misunderstood the thread title.
But while I'm here, though, no turbos involved at the time, I remember the first time I experienced a fast car. My uncle showed up one day and needed to borrow my car, a 1972 Ford Gran Torino Squire Station Wagon with the wood siding.
It was my first car, a family "hand-me-down". All 5,500 pounds of it with a neutered factory 351 Cleveland 2-barrel. He was restoring a 1933 Ford and needed the hauling capability. He dropped off the car he came in undramatically, a 1982 Mercury Capri 5.0, white, T-Tops, red interior and a 4-speed manual. I had never seen a manual with a V8.
And I didn't know that the 1982's marked the first year that Ford tried for a fun level of power. That year, Ford restarted the horsepower wars that still go on today. It was only 145hp but made lotsa torque and sounded great. The clutch, T-Tops and ginormous fake hood scoop looked awesome.
After my uncle left I told my Dad I was going to take it for a spin to make sure I knew how to drive it. I did not know what to expect. I thought it was going to be a "blah" car for a few days. Holy crap was I wrong. I went around my block and I could feel this thing pulling on chains. I immediately went to my friends house, who was older. He knew about these 5.0's and he came running out, "holy sh where did you get this?!" Driving around in So Cal, T-Tops, 5.0, manual, hood scoop was like no other feeling. The rest is history. My friends all ended up with 5.0s - 1984, 1986, 1988, 1991, Crazy.

Re: Do you remember your first time....hitting IT!
My buddy's dad had a 2nd gen trans am (1980) with the 301 turbo that was not stock at all lol! Both being 15 we figured we'd take it out one Saturday night for a little fun and of course we ended up getting caught. Our moms were super pissed and our dads pretended to be mad, but knew were were just boys doing what boys do in a small town.

In 2011 i did my first turbo set up. I did a burnout in my garage. That was my first hit and I was head over heels into boost for many years after. Expensive habit. This was back when I definitly had no clue.
