Water/Methanol Injection OR Nitrous

I am in need of an intercooler for my setup but unsure which way to go. From the tech articles ive read the water/meth injection brings intake temps down around 50% and allows more timing and boost to be applied. However there is no information ANYWHERE about the differences nitrous creates in air temperature in conjuction with boost. Obviously with nitrous you would need to further reduce timing but horsepower gain (maybe) substantial. Has anyone done this or know anyone who has run a nitrous/roots blower combination. My blower is small (177ci) unit and heat is becoming an issue. Any advise, thoughts, or opinions are greatly appreciated!

Re: Water/Methanol Injection OR Nitrous

Do not use nitrous. While it may cool air temps somewhat, it adds power, which is just more cylinder pressure and burning more o2 violently as in nitrous applications, this will just make it more detonation prone

Water meth if you cant fit a good air air or air water

I pieced together a "meth kit" myself out of a washer fluid pump from a civic and an adjustable pressure switch to kick it on. As far as I'm concerned theres no reason not to have meth when you're adding tons of heat and horsepower.

Water/Meth all day even though I have nitrous too, but have not used them both yet.

Re: Water/Methanol Injection OR Nitrous

I use methanol injection on a kenne bell mustang. You can run 93 octane and alot more timing an boost. I have no intercooler either. If you take the standard of 10° increase per lb of boost added to the iat of say 80° at my 14lbs boost I should see around 220° I see 125°iat under boost. In reality it should be much higher. Because reality my intake temps with heat soak is around 150 iat. So 14lbs would be 280°. Like I said I see around 125°on boost. I have an AIS system. Has its own 3 gallon tank with pump built unto the bottom of it. You cant beat methanol injection. I could inject more and have the ecu pull out fuel but Im on a stock ecu. Point being you could get the temp down below ambiant. With an air to air you cannot. It goes as low as the air temp across the intercooler. I personally wouldnt run two power adders. Nos if there is a hiccup you can melt a motor fast. To me either running more boost and more timing can make up for say running a 100 shot. You can add that in timing and boost easily with no detonation. Mix M1 VP and distilled.

Re: Water/Methanol Injection OR Nitrous

I don't know the answer, which is why I'm asking this "stupid" question.
I would imagine methanol is expen$ive.
Snow's Boost Juice, a premeasured and bottled 50-percent-water/50-percent-methanol mixture. This formula can also be duplicated using blue -20-degree-rated windshield washer fluid that's "spiked" with 3 bottles of Heet fuel-line antifreeze (99.9 Methanol).

I found some RV antifreeze good to -50 degrees with no additives or special ingredients.
I wonder how this would work???

"Cheapest" per say is mix your own. $8 gallon M1 VP makes 2 gallons 50/50 mix. Dont use the winshield washer as it has alot of additives in it as well.

Re: Water/Methanol Injection OR Nitrous

Methanol should be cheaper than 8 a gallon but guess it depends whos selling. but it is nicer to mix your own. I used washer fluid and it worked good enough, but i cant say how it would effect things in long term

Re: Water/Methanol Injection OR Nitrous

I read the labels at Napa today.
They had both the blue stuff (-20) and the pink RV stuff (-50).
Blue - Methyl Alcohol
Pink - Propylene Glycol

M1 VP is like 8 something a gallon. Expensive.
