Is supercharging a 11:1 compression motor a good idea
As the title says
Is supercharging a 11:1 compression motor a good idea. Im toying with getting a 383sbc that has 11:1 compression. But also love supercharged cars and would like to add on at a later date.

Low boost with E85... I was in the same dilemma with my Iroc and decided if I boost, I'll go back to stock heads and 10:1.

Re: Is supercharging a 11:1 compression motor a good idea
I'm going to do this on my 4200 Vortec (if I ever get a chance to finish the install). I won't be looking for a whole lot more than turbo noise but still should bring the NA 300 hp up to around 450. I'm not sure what my options will be for flex fuel (using the stock ECM with some sort of HP Tuners mod to allow boost maps) but I would like to have the option of E85 but also the freedom to use 93 because of limited E85 sources in my area. Anyway I expect to run 8 to 10 psi with a conservative tune. If I were looking for max performance I would be doing something to lower the compression but this will just be a fun car.

Not a good idea on pump gas. I chose to learn the hard way and got lucky it only cost me a head gasket. 8 psi and 11:1 on 93 octane = lots of work in the garage I didn't want to do lol

yeah..... this won't be pretty. Maybe can pull it off and you have water/meth injection, but other wise no. 11:1 and boost is really in the realm of direct injection motors.
