NOS carb NX Gemini Plate install

Hey. I thought I’d post a few pics of the NOS plate install I did a month ago.

The NX Gemini plate is a great item, it’s an annular discharge plate as opposed to the traditional “spray-bar in the middle” plates. It takes 4 jets instead of 2 and NX provides a jetting chart for power levels based on fuel pressure that you are running.

I made a mount for the bottle in the spare tire well. I have seen many ways to do this, including nesting the bottle in spray foam. That’s not how I did it. See below: I made alum mounting brackets to bolt the bottle brackets to and used sealant and rivets to mount this arrangement. The OEM spare tire cover fits over it ok.
I ran the hose under the car up to the front, I use a bottle heater (115v) to maintain pressure (not pictured)

I then mounted the progressive controller, switches and relay. I used an aircraft 10A breaker instead of a simple fuse. The progressive control is an easy to use unit, with 20-50% N2O at initial activation, and build time up to 8 seconds. Tuning will be at the track, I am going to start with 25% and build to 100% at 3.5 seconds as a generic starting point.

The next part was mounting an activation switch. I felt the best way to go was on the carb, WOT activation. I bought a micro switch with a lever at the local electronics supply store for $4. I then mocked up where it should reside on the carb and fabricated a bracket to hold it. I had already juggled the solenoids around and found an arrangement that cleared everything as best it could, and ran the wires accordingly.

after that it was a matter of testing the system dry and then pressurized. No leaks were found - this is good.
I used the ‘safety’ solenoid but mounted it on the carb NOS solenoid instead of back at the bottle. It is wired to the Arming switch, at this power level, I don’t think there will be a problem with it. I am not running a purge solenoid because I used the car for road course track days and felt the “soft hit” would be acceptable as I’ll have a few laps to use it anyway….but after some thought I will most likely put a purge system in.

For fuel supply, I currently run an Aeromotive set up and decided for simplicity sake, I’ll just run the NOS off the existing regulator because I’m only running 100hp on the plate.

Per information found in other NOS posts on TGO, I will back the timing off 4-5 degrees and go from there.
im currently running 10.5:1 and have an MSD7 ignition. I’ll probably run 100 octane just to be safe when figuring the system out, but will be running on pump gas eventually. I’m running NGK 8’s at .034”. The carb is a 750 HP series Holley and I have a T56 6 speed.
I hope to try it out in September.
