Bad Bad Bad Government Sux

Summitracing informed me that the government is tryin to propose a plan to junk all 60's, 70's, and 80's sports cars. HEre is the email they sent me.

Dear Summit Racing customer,

Your hobby is in danger! Proposed U.S. government legislation, U.S.

Senate Bill S.1766, would allocate federal funds for state scrappage programs

for vehicles more than 15 years old. In the process, it could threaten the

very existence of our hobby by:

*Destroying 1960s and 70s era musclecars

*Scrapping 1980s performance vehicles like Mustangs, Camaros, and Corvettes

*Eliminating many non-performance vehicles which provide an invaluable parts

source

Take a stand for your rights--and your hobby--by letting your U.S. Senator

know how this bill will directly affect you. Log onto our website at

http://www.SummitRacing.com for a copy of our Legislator Letter, which you

can print, sign, and mail to your Senator. Then, go to

http://www.enjoythedrive.com/san for a complete list of legislator names and

addresses, plus additional information on U.S. Senate Bill S.1766.

Act now--your hobby may depend on it!

I hope that the moderators allow enough leeway on this subject to keep it open. This does strike right @ the heart of our hobby (& some of our lives). Please people, get involved. if nothing else, shoot SEMA a few bucks so that they can fight this (enjoythedrive.com).

If no-one says anything, they dont have the right to bitch when there is no hot rodding.

Thank you for your time!

You know what is bad is that Ive reviewed this bill. there are a lot of other truly beneficial things on it. The sad part is that it may get passed in and used on the coat tails of others.

Its not totally as bad as you guys are making it out to sound though. There are a lot of stipulations to it such as giving credits to people who did it. It is not a mandatory thing but there are incentives for states to do it.

I dont want to sound like a paranoid Doom & Gloomer, but this is how bad things start. they start out fairly inocent & then gradually become worse. We here in CA, have seen the start of this with the IM emmisions testing, BUT before Yall go off all nuts, this has come to be a good thing (Try breating in LA, you can do it now).
