How about a forum dedicated to Cooling (radiators, trannys, rearends, elec. fans etc)

How about a forum dedicated to Cooling (radiators, trannys, rearends, elec. fans etc)

just a thought... I think it'd be better to have cooling questions answered in a forum of their own mainly because

A: ~ Most cooling questions I've seen have gone unanswered
B: ~ Theres enough different components having to do with cooling itself that it'd make sense to have all specific questions directed there
C: ~ There isn't enough info for aftermarket cooling and I think there should be some, IE aftermarket electric fans, flex fans, oil coolers, tranny coolers, things like that
D: ~ just because

Anyone else think its a good idea?

I agree it sounds like a good idea. I mean there is one for audio and cooling is very much important on these cars especially if they are modded (who doesn't have theirs modded )

I like the idea.

But I honestly think that is part of the purpose of the Tech/general engine board, though.

Run the idea by Dirk or Brad, and see what they say.

thats just the point... theres enough people with cooling problems that it should be addressed in whole with its own forum with people who know what they're talking about...

its not just general engine... its about everything to do with your car's performance and personal comfort as well...

I agree, there's loads of stuff that needs to be covered, a cooling board would be a great thing to have.

Its 1 of the better ideas I've heard, but why not just ask these questions on the boards that have to do with them??

radiators: Tech/General Engine
trannys: Transmissions and Drivetrain
rearends: Transmissions and Drivetrain
elec. fans etc.: Tech/General Engine

because a lot of the time they go unanswered... or only partially answered... it'd be much easier to have a dedicated area for all types of cooling so you can get a more direct and positive input about it without having to wade through all the rest of the things to figure out what the hell is going on... yanno?

with the amount of threads started in those two forums alone its enough to bury a question that needs to be answered relatively quickly...

Yea I really agree on this one. There are so many questions being asked on general engine that questions are easily buried and forgotton. There are a lot of cooling questions that get no response. Cooling in a vehicle is one of the most important things. Everybody knows what happens when an engine is too cold or too hot. I really think we should have a board dedicated to the cooling questions on the cars. The general board is already taking too much topic traffic as it is.

I agree that alot of cooling questions get buried and unanswered. But so many people ask them, when in fact they should really do a search, and more than likely they will find what they are looking for. Its usually the same thing over and over, when you reply you sound like a broken record....

[monotone]
Check timing...
Inspect hoses...
Pull water pump and inspect it, (really not that hard)...
Check for build up in front of radiator...
Did you flush the system?...
Is there an Air Dam?...
Do the fans come on?...
Is there voltage at the fans?...

You know what I mean?

I know that this is a helping tech. site, and I'm all for it, I love this site, but some people need to search first.

I shall take it into consideration and may make it a trial board and if all goes well, it'll become permanent

Not on the cooling board. If we're nominating people, I think Brodyscamaro is the most helpful on that board; though it's obviously up to the person whether or not they should be the moderator.
