WTF Man ?

If I am allowed to post my opinion about some of these moderators, here is my attempt to do so. This thread was closed. No explanation at all.

https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=123509

Its pretty FREAKIN obvious that my intent is to do a 4th gen swap, but nope.. they just closed it because it said "4th gen". Ya know the definition of "third gen content" needs to be redefined, made broader perhaps. My threads are repeatedly closed for foolish reasons while threads like "top 10 cars" which is a flame fest remain open. My whole point, the moderators are becoming a bit too trigger happy. Can we say "*** COMPLEX" (It would make my day if this thread was closed due to lack of thirdgen content )

first of all, please don't fly off the handle. look at the subject of your message. it says nothing about thirdgens at all.

the ideal topic would have said something to the effect of "considering 4thgen interior swap for my 3rdgen, where to find 4thgen interior parts sources?"

try reposting your topic with the above topic, and see what happens.

robertg is right, goku. Sometimes it does seem that a thread will be locked for no apparent reason, but I think the problem is that there are a few people on the board who post some absolute junk, and sometimes it must be difficult to know which threads are harmless and are taking some kind of constructive route, and which ones are going to turn into flame wars, or use up valuable server space talking about stuff which is in no way third gen related. I think if your post had contained a reference to putting this 4th gen stuff into a third gen, nobody would have had a problem leaving it open.

Apart from the search button ***** of course !

The best course of action to help the moderators with their task of policing the boards is to make your intentions obvious, even if it means a risk of patronising the members who already know what you're talking about.

So are we all friends again ?

Si

That is understood, fair enough... but atleast an explanation on that thread would have been nice, or even let him post a message saying something like " please relay more information concerning how this is thirdgen related" in which I would have gladly provided more specifics (I don't particularily think I was vague about the initial request but that is merely my opinion). If I could provide more information that express its third gen content, then of course, leave it open, if I could not however, then close it. Just an idea perhaps. Thank you for addressing my issue rather than suspending me. (i've been suspended on other boards for expressing an educated opinion that fell upon the deaf ears of the moderators, not here though)

I hate that when posts are just locked with no parting words. It just bothers me, so when I lock posts I always try to leave a little note on why it was locked and how to maybe avoid it in the future,

well, there's only a few people who can suspend accounts, and i'm not one of them.

as long as you don't give a hassle to anyone or start fights or bash cars, you should be fine.

just try to note possible thirdgen content if at all possible.

i've always believed that if you don't like the way i'm moderating my board, tell me why.

also, if you don't like how something is being done, politely email one of the admins. you'd probably have a better chance of reaching Brad, as Dirk from what i hear si a really busy guy. if you're nice, we'll be nice. that's all we ask.

Whoops

I closed that, as I thought you were asking where you could buy parts for your fourth gen. Feel free to repost it, or at your request I will reopen it and bump it up to the top. My apologies

Oh, and as far as explanation, I get tired of restating the rules for people over and over again, so sometimes I lock with no explanation. I know most don't like it, but I don't have time to be everyone's friend and keep the site clean. I'm used to being hated

Once again, I apologize for closing your post.

Brad, if you would reopen it and bump it to the top, I would be grateful. I will attempt to provide more clarification in future posts not only for the sake of the moderators, but also for all of the readers. On the issue of bandwidth, why not put up a sticky note concerning IROC2NV and Revlimit, something saying "bash em and the thread will be closed immediately" Those threads are annoying now, Seems like their are just some bullys on the forum lately. Anyway.. thanks again!! I appreciate you being civil about this.

On another note, why not put up a sticky post in each forum that has "codes" for closing. Basically like

code 12 - bashing
code red - flame war
code 13 - lacking third gen content
code 14 - forbidden content
blacklist - you are suspended

Stuff like that. When you closed a forum, you could just put a code in their, and if they need to know what it meant, it would be found at the top of the forum. Would keep guys like me from atleast questioning why it was closed. (cant say it won't keep guys like me from debating with you about it )

Just an idea, thx for listening.

After reading my initial post in here, i'd like to apologize for approaching you (all , can't say ya'll, im from texas but my mother raised me not to say that ) in the manner that I did. Im generally a rational person but im some cases when I get annoyed with something "seemed like a good idea at the time" becomes my explanation for anything and everything that happens.

Sorry.

i myself saw that post as well, and it got me wondering.

i think the majority of the cars in that post were 4thgens.

you might try re-posting the other post about wv and virginia patrol cars.

i'm pretty sure jim85iroc's site http://iroc.fbody.com has some pics of police equipped cars. might try looking there.
