*sniff* No more pics?
Are we ever going to be able to post pics again? If this is a temporary issue, then no biggie, but I think that posting pics was/is a TREMENDOUSLY valuable and important part of this website, as well as being quite entertaining at times. Sure, links work alright I guess, but half the time they don't work, and the other times, people just don't bother to follow the link.
I realize that if it was causing problems, then a solution is needed, but just not posting pics seems like trading one problem for another. I'd much rather eliminate pics in sigs. That's fun too, but not needed. I don't know if bandwidth was the issue, just throwing out some thoughts. Maybe a restriction on the size of the file we can attach?
I'm not bit-ching by any means, just voicing an opinion that I think a LOT of us share. I realize that this was done to solve a problem, and I don't know that there is another solution, I'm just bringing the issue front and center. If no pics is the final word, I'll still vistit daily, I just won't be as happy

The way attachments are handled in VBB really sucks. VBB3 will allow me to save attachments as files and not directly into the database. Right now the attachment table is 1.3 gigs in size and VBB tries doing some crazy stuff with that data.
Another problem is that MySQL supports table locking, not row level locking.
I'm looking at adding a hack to the board that'll stick attachments into a directory instead of directly into the VBB. Unfortunately, there's a bunch of people having problems with it though
It's only been disabled for 24 hours hours now and the server has been great.
The NO-ATTACHMENT thing is only temporary. I'll find a way to make it work.

There are people attaching photos again, yet I have no ability. Before, I had the attachment button, now it is gone. Are there certain members that are not allowed to post pics for some reason? Please let me know. Thanks.
