*ATTENTION* Some kind of virus

Just an FYI. I keep getting viruses sent to me from a third gen related name everyday for about a week now. I have all the latest anti-virus software and never opened any of the attachments.

Now tonight someone with a third gen related name on AIM told me that I have sent them 6 viruses through E-mail. I have no idea who the person is, and never sent them any mail.

Be cautious people, I dont know what to do from here.

Something pretty common with viruses. You need to read the header information to determine where the email really came from, not just the 'from" field, which is often spoofed by the virus. Then you could report (forward) the email to their ISP. It sometimes takes time (and several reports) for the ISP's abuse department to notify their customer of the problem.

Not a lot you can do, as just having your email address posted, having your email address in someone's address book or just a prior email contact with someone, can all be used in a virus spoof like this, where you appear to be the sender of a virus.

Atleast you know to keep your Anti-virus definition files up to date and know to be safe with what you open. Unfortunately there are a lot of people out there that don't, and that's why this is such a problem and will continue to be.
