new owners?

Can anyone elaborate on this?
would this be the couple of ____xoxide guys? do you even have 3rd gens? any reason for being new owners of the site? Just curious....
what happened to the previous site owners? Dirk?

fund raising; what about asking the members for donations again, then getting a different title to reflect that? (like before..)

Dirk, being one of the original founders, and original owner, of TGO, as well as one of the few still around the past 9 years, sold TGO.

The new company is working on ways for members to donate to TGO. They specifically are working on added features for the members who do donate to TGO. I'm not sure if there is a specific process, but you can probably email webmaster@thirdgen.org, with a donation subject title, and hopefully Jason will pick it up.

The are also trying to reclaim the great amount of money that they have put into TGO already. The cost of TGO, the cost of running the server that hosts TGO, the cost for the software upgrades and the cost for the people that work for the company that are working on TGO (Jason and David) has meant that the new company has spent a considerable amount of money into TGO for us.

hmm, ok, thanks for the info. I guess Dirk jumped ship when the site crashed hardcore? ok.
I'll wait and see what Jason/David do then for the donations. Too bad they don't own thirdgens, tsk tsk...

Dirk did not jump ship when the hardware crashed, he actually got it back up and running with all new servers from money that the community donated to him.

Xoxide is the name of the parent company.

Cayse is correct, Dirk did not jump ship when the hard drive failure issue happened, which took the website offline. That happened over 1 year ago. Dirk got the website, the majority of it, back online after that issue.

The website was sold before the upgrade from vB 2.x to vB 3.5.4 took place. I'm not sure if the date I have is 100% official, and even then, I don't have it on memory at the moment.

ooohhhhhhhh. ok, thanks for clearing that up. I thought Dirk "gave up" on it and sold it. I was just curious.

One thing I may add as a suggestion then, since i'm in the right forum;
put more updates on the main TGO page. they are extremely sparce usually, couldn't hurt to do them more often, 'specially if something changes.

Last I heard from my guys here, entire front page will be redesigned, and definately better kept.

I think the sale took place around end of Feb guys. The downtime and search problems are taking place because of the transfer between servers, and upgrading the database to a much newer VBB.
