Problem With Images in Posts

I am not having any success embedding images into my posts, as I have done many times in the past. I am following the same procedure I have always used, and instead of the images appearing, they are appearing as hyperlinks.

Take this thread for example:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/misc...actory-gm.html

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

That's because your URLs had, for one example, "?t=1167505040" after .jpg (extension). The vB software is setup to treat those types of URLs differently.

In your case, it appeared to be unncessary, so I fixed your post by removing them.

Thanks very much for the help.

I wonder, though, why this is happening now? As I said, I have been using Photobucket and embedding images in posts on this site and others for a long time. Any theories?

Thanks again for your time.

Maybe I didn't explain it well. If you want to embed images in posts, make sure the URL ends in .jpg or .gif. If there is any trailing behind .jpg or .gif, the forum will convert it to a link, regardless if you used the image tags.

I searched some of your posts where you embedded images specifically from Photobucket. Some were from a few days ago, some was from 2005. All of them ended in .jpg - which is normal. That's why those images displayed properly in your posts.

However, this recent example is the only example I could find where you tried to embed photos from Photbucket that had a suffix at the end of .jpg ( .jpg?t=1167505040 ). That is where the problem was. The forum software treats URLs differently that end in anything other than normal .jpg, gif, etc., extensions.

Since I don't use Photobucket, I can only guess that the URL you got from Photobucket was different than what you normally had used.

Photobucket just recently changed the way you have to copy the URL.

Thanks so much for the effort in checking into and explaining this to me, JT.

flrtin1, that would explain it! What is the new way that you have to do it?

To make your post work, I simply dropped off the trailing suffix after .jpg

That worked, but I can't say that it will always work.

If you left click over the words IMG Code of the image you want on your photobucket thumbnail page you will notice a little yellow pop up that says Copied then just paste that into your reply as is and you will be good to go.

I have the line you want to click on circled in red on the first image on this screen:
