Yet another unannounced change to TGO
Well; I was curious as to why the process of leaving feedback on this website was never completely addressed in this link :
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/clas...um-please.html
It appears that after I pointed out that the feedback could be left from any board and asked the webmaster to verify it - The ability to leave feedback was changed without notice. This is a practice that has been in place for the last 6 years without any problems. Why change it ??
Since the issue was already being discussed in an open forum why was it quickly and quietly modified ?!? Abuse; No,..... Complaints or concerns from members; No. It seems as if ( once again ) some of the functionality at TGO that in the past made it BETTER than other Web sites has been removed.
Since no one even knew that leaving feedback from any forum thread was an option until I brought it up, I believe that the modification to the feedback system was directly aimed at aggrivating me. It worked. Yet another slap in my face,......... It's growing old. Since it was under discussion in an open forum and the changes were made without notice I can only believe that it was done with malicious intent.
So Be it, but understand this........ The Mods and Admin may feel that my input on this website is a hassle and don't want to address the issues I bring to the table in a fair manner. Now re-visit these topics and notice that many other members are in complete and strong agreement with my views, and just about none of the members posting follow-ups disagree with my observations.
In the past when I have brought up problems caused by changes and based on the information provided in the Stickys ( like recommending the use of hot links or banning an IP address ) the site Webmaster has told me that MY information is not correct. If that's true, than please revise the stickys to be accurate !
I've done more than most over the last decade to make this website what it is,..... correction - what it USED TO BE. My posts here do not clog the system with meaningless babble, but detailed information that is researched and as complete as possible for those I am assisting. I post more detailed / specific information and provide more quality parts to the members on this site than most of the membership base. If you think the site is better off without my input, you might get your wish,.... I've about had it. If the site leaders are not receptive to the problems that their changes cause to it's members and actually change existing procedures that will be sure to cause more of an inconvenience than anything else,........ than what good does it due to report anything ?? In This latest example, what benefit is there to limiting where the feedback comes from ??

Re: Yet another unannounced change to TGO
I was going to simply delete this because it's a clear violation of our rules that have been in place for years and comes off as a rant: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/faq-...uidelines.html
Specifically:
You clearly violated the above rule, which as been in place for years, which was not even written by me. This is your warning, John. You should be well aware of those rules.
Now, I wanted to correct a few things and make a few notes to your response, as I do not have anything to hide.
You stated incorrect facts. You claim that for "6 years" there was an ability to leave feedback on any board. This is simply incorrect because the iTrader hasn't been in use for anywhere near 6 years. Less than 2 years, I believe.
It is true that the system allowed feedback from all forums for quite some time, but this was simply an oversight. Had you been involved and aware, you would have know that the iTrader plugin wasn't installed and setup by any of us without any of our input. I'd say based on that, it is grounds for change alone. It has gradually been adjusted as needed. You are quick to claim "policy", when I believe it's more "fine tuning".
The fact of the matter is, I have helped numerous members who have informed me that they had made a deal outside of the Classifieds forum. They provide me with the link, and I'll fix the thread to allow them to make feedback. You have NOT done any of the sort.
The fact of the matter is, the change was made to prevent abuse. First of all, the majority of the transactions should not be occurring outside of the Classifieds to begin with. That's common sense. So this change should impact the least amount of members. Secondly, when you allow no "restrictions", you open up the system to abuse. It's a plain and simple fact. There was little good reason to allow no "restrictions" on this system. It's nearly impossible for the entire staff to be aware of everything. Having to ensure that the feedback being left was legit was one of those concerns.
Again, because you are not involved, you cannot make such statements. You are not the one who receives emails or iTrader reports by members indicating that the feedback left on their account was "inaccurate", "unfair", etc. You do NOT see any of those reports.
You then go on to state that you believe the change was made towards "aggrivating" you.
That is yet again, incorrect. It is also very revealing and may explain why you are quick to become upset. This forum has thousands of other members. The simple matter is, this had nothing to do with you personally. I wasn't even aware it affected you. I recall that you did ask, but the changes had been made before you had even had to ask.
When you start to believe that someone is out to get you, as you are hinting at, I think you may need to step back, relax, and review things because you have taken things too seriously and have gone too far. Especially when there is thousands of other members on this site besides you.
As well, I never gave you any permission to quote any private messages between you and myself. While that may not be an exact rule, it displays a lack of courtesy, consideration and responsibility. I did not give you any permission to do as such. They are called "private" messages for a reason.
I'm more than willing to discuss and working things out. But, instead of making such an effort, you attempted to use our forums for some sort of personal mission (as you stated, you believe the change was aimed at simply "aggrivating" you - which it was not). If you believed this to be the case, you should have taken it up directly with me, not use the forums to create a scene. That's not how things work.
You then even take it another step by questioning my position. The fact of the matter is, I've given more time and effort to this website, which benefits members, than I get anything in return. I'm not here, or doing this, for anything I get in return other than knowing despite that I may make some enemies for simply enforcing our rules and guidelines, I help the community/website, support the vehicles that I have an interest for, and help countless of members every single day. Unfortunately, I cannot please every one. You want to talk about slaps in the face, this is one of them.
The fact of the matter is, a few changes that have been made, you have blown up over. When the changes to edit system were made, which the staff agreed with (who actually know more of what goes on beyond the scenes), you blew up and attacked me over because it impacted you - when you are in the minority of those that this change impacted. That's unfortunate, but that was something that even the staff (not just myself) felt was necessary and appropriate. Again, because you are not involved and aware of any moderating and administrating, you do not have, nor do you know of, all the facts involved. You are not the one who can make a call on our justifications because you don't have all those details and facts.
In regard to the edit feature, I understood and acknowledged that there was some legit cases that would be affected, but those cases (which are in the minority) do not outweigh the issues that were used in making the change to the edit system. I and the staff can state this knowing all the facts, you cannot. I volunteered to help assist those that this proves to be an inconvenience to, while hoping to find some better solution. Sorry, but you know that the staff is in place to not only enforce rules, but to generally set rules as needed for the best of the community - not just one member. This may have been an inconvenience for the minority that were impacted by this, but I volunteered to help those out. And the fact is, I have.
This is your warning. Do not make another post like that again, or it will be dealt with, and further action will be taken. It's clearly addressed in our rules that not only were not written by me, but have been here for years, un-alerted.
I suggest you step back, relax, and review things. You clearly are taking things too serious and too far when you believe someone is making changes aimed specifically at you, when you are a small fraction of the total members (and active members) on this website. It's further evidence when you make inaccurate statements (showing you are not paying attention and being careful), then go on to attacking me specifically and overall show some signs of not being very rational, but simply offensive.
I realize I'm being a bit harsh and defensive here, but when you create such post that is clearly on the offense and is partially aimed at me personally (while breaking rules), I believe there is some justification because this has been a repeatedly displayed behavior.
Now, if you want to have a civil, rational and reasonable discussion, let's have at it and discuss it via PMs. If not, that's your choice. But this is your warning. I suggest you step back, relax, and rationally review and consider things. If you do not personally care for me, that is fine. I can't please everyone. The fact of the matter is, I, unfortunately, will have members like you that are upset with me for doing my job and doing what I think is best for the community as a whole - not one or two, or the minority. I help members every single day, and I do so for these vehicles and the website/community. If I make a mistake, I'm open to reviewing and reconsidering. I never said I was always right or perfect, and I've adjusted plenty of times when someone (rationally) helps me see such. The rest of the staff is often consulted and aware of these things as I make an effort to get as much valid feedback as possible. But when someone breaks rules, simply criticizes staff and policy, mis-states facts and statements, and show some suggestions that people are out to get you (1 of thousands), then I'm not going to stand by and allow it.
Specifically:
Do not post messages about site policy, criticism of Moderators, Administrators, or other Members.
Now, I wanted to correct a few things and make a few notes to your response, as I do not have anything to hide.
