We use this forum, PLEASE USE iTrader ALSO!

Hello fellas,
I read allot of negative and positive feedback posts here, but when I look for iTrader feedback, most people don't use it The iTrader feedback system allows us to see the persons transaction without having to do a search or ask "have you dealt with so" Let’s start using the system if you haven’t and let’s make TGO a better place to buy and sell

I had troubles figuring out how to use Itrade at first and have been told the same by others. Is Itrade your Classifieds rating?

Yes, the iTrader is the Classifieds Rating system. I am currently putting together a short write-up with illustrations on how to use the system and will include it in an overall package for classified dealings.

Good idea. I have had to explain to everyone I deal with how to leave a rating. A few have just given up. The hardest part seems to be how to access the iTrader/Classified link.

You have to find the post, copy then paste it, which if the post is old it takes time to find it. It does have to be simplified, thats for sure.

If you have posted in the thread that the seller had, the easiest way I have found to find it is to go to the User CP at the top of the page and then click on list subscriptions and the thread should be in the list provided. If you did not post in the sellers thread, that's a different story.

You also must subscribe to threads, or the thread, for it to be in the User CP under the subscriptions.

Re: We use this forum, PLEASE USE iTrader ALSO!

I posted in the Problems / Help / Suggestions / Comments area about the problems I'm having and others about getting email notifications and JT has been working on it, Thx. TJ. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/prob...t-getting.html. Even with all the ways everyone is doing it, it still could be simplified. Not everyone is as resourceful. Its easy to leave feedback on Ebay, to bad this site can't come up with something similar and easy.

A couple important things.

iTrader is a product plugin that integrates into vBulletin based forums (the software we use for our forums) which is designed and developed by people outside of this community. It is not our product/program. You will find many other vB based forums using iTrader.

Our Classifieds are simply a forum/board on our website - much like many other websites. Because iTrader is being used on a forum that is basically a "discussion forum", it's difficult to make it function as eBay's own system.

Quite simply, eBay knows who the buyer and seller is of each transaction. They aren't using a "discussion forum" as a Classifieds where people can reply to any thread and publicly ask questions and make comments.

It does not work as efficiently like eBay because not everyone who is replying to threads is a buyer or seller. You probably don't want each post of each thread asking for feedback on something you haven't bought or sold.

We aren't ruling out looking to options for the Classifieds system to address this, and provide better options to buyers and sellers.

Re: We use this forum, PLEASE USE iTrader ALSO!

I just received 2 items that I bought from members. I'm trying to leave them positive feedback but I'm not able to find the way to do it again. I have not used it as a buyer so maybe thats why I'm having troubles. I saved the threads in my IE favorites and just subscribed to the threads but I still can't seem to access Itrade. Any help or what I'm doing wrong.

The process is no different between buyer and seller, other than marking the feedback as a buyer or seller. The rest of the process is the same.

Since you have the threads saved in your browser's bookmark, click on the thread. For the member you are going to rate, click the value in the brackets for the "Classifieds Rating: (0)", which appears in the left side of the screen of the post the member created. In this example, click on the 0.

You are now viewing the member's iTrader feedback. Click on the link "Submit Feedback For (member's name here)". The rest is fairly self-explanatory.

Re: We use this forum, PLEASE USE iTrader ALSO!

JT, I will try it. The buyers left me feedback 1st an I was notified that they left it. Then I just followed the link basically. I can see why people give up, its not cut and dry to leave feedback 1st. Thx.

I found that's the easiest way to do it Sometimes it's also easier to open up two different pages of TGO so you can cut the URL of the original transaction and paste it into the feedback page where it asks for it

Re: We use this forum, PLEASE USE iTrader ALSO!

Once you know to click the rating # under the members screen name and copy the URL its a pretty easy process.
----------
This process of leaving a rating should be a sticky.

As mentioned, I will be posting a short article on using the iTrader, and we'll have it stickied with other information for our classifieds.

That said, despite this, there will still be times when members don't rate their transaction, even if it's as simple as eBay. I'm sure you have seen that some sellers on eBay, when sending tracking information or follow-up information, will also add a reminder to the buyer with the request of leaving feedback on eBay. That might be considered as well.

JT,
Stickies are a great idea, to bad most users don't even bother reading them. Possibly you could change the font color to make them stand out, or does anyone have any other ideas to make them stand out?

I agree on the color font 100%. Same in the classified board were it says LOCATON, LOCATION, LOCATION and still members post giving no clue of where they are.

I don't think there is a bullet-proof method. It's a combination of members who simply don't want to read it, and members who may actually simply miss it. If members don't want to read it, they won't. We currently have the announcements with a different background font color. It used to be a Yellow, but we toned it down to a Grey. Still, announcements would get missed regardless. We don't want something that is too obnoxious - especially to those who have already read or are already aware of the content of those posts.

Re: We use this forum, PLEASE USE iTrader ALSO!

I don't believe that if you made it in bold bright colors or even flashing it would not be too obnoxious. When you open up a main page you scroll down pretty quickly and you won't see the top stickies anymore. Its worth a trial run and see if members complain.

Yeah it's really nice when you buy something from someone, leave them good feedback, and then they won't reutrn the favor, even after you PM them asking to. And then they PM you wanting to sell you more stuff......

Can't iTrader feedback be left for anyone based on ANY forum thread ?? ( Not specificly a thread in the Classified section )

Example: 2 people post in the "History" forum to the same thread. Can't feedback be left based on the 2 peoples posts to that thread ?

No. It's set for only the Classifieds section. Why should it work for threads outside of the Classifieds? The iTrader is for transactions, and as such, posts that lead to transactions probably belong in the Classifieds.

Re: We use this forum, PLEASE USE iTrader ALSO!

what about a box system at the top. The thread automatically lists the users that leave a reply, and a box in a seperate column saying "Leave feedback." You check the box of the person that you want, you check the box "Leave Feedback," and it goes straight into an iTrader form that automatically links the URL and member together.

At the beginning i was confused, took me a little while to figure it out, but i think that may be a little easier on people that actually want to use this service. As mentioned above i would have a lot more if people actually used this, especially when i leave them something and get nothing back despite PMs.

I know as a fellow programmer this is a lot of programming to do, but i think something like this would make it a little more simpler like ebay as it links the sale, url, and user all together in a very simple form.

I just figured out the whole itrader thing from reading this post , this really needs to be a sticky , I've searched this topic before and gave up in frustration but I just had a terrific transaction and really wanted to leave positive feedback .

I made a first-revision of Using the iTrader System and posted it as an announcement for all subforums of the Classifieds section, rather than limiting it to strictly the Classified Ads Feedback forum.

I had someone leave me ( valid ) feedback from a Suspension/Chassis forum/thread when I sold him a WS6 suspension before the new year. Hence; my previous post.........

It's not really policy, it's logic. Simply put, the iTrader is a rating system for transactions that take place on our forums. we have a Classifieds section for a reason. Ads should be in those Classifieds section. As such, the iTrader should only work for threads in the Classifieds because the iTrader is only to be used for transactions.

As I noted a few posts above your response:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/post...25-post35.html

I have already composed and posted a first-revision of Using the iTrader, which is currently an announcement in all of the subforums of the Classifieds.

So;

Is it now set to only accept Classified threads for transaction feedback,......
It's set for only the Classifieds section.

OR

Is the iTrader system STILL allowing feedback from transactions on any forum / thread ???
iTrader is a rating system for transactions that take place on our forums

You might want to check into that. I got ( valid ) iTrader feedback from a member using a thread on the V6 forum on 1-22-08.
