Anyone else having probs with notifications?
I know there was a problem a few months ago with email notifications, but in the past few days I haven't been receiving email from posts or PMs. Just seeing if I'm the only one with this problem. I haven't changed my email addy, I haven't changed anything like that in years.

In addition, since I handle the webmaster email account, which is the "from" and "reply to" that is used when sending out email notifications, I can tell you a lot of members do get email notifications because they mistakenly respond to those email notifications - which then goes to me - rather than the intended recipient. Some members do not understand those are simply email notifications, and that they cannot respond to them as they don't go to the proper recipient or location.
Everyday I get those email messages from members who had respond to our email notification. This means, obviously, they get email notifications.
Hotmail and Yahoo.com (which are the providers in both cases here) have been known to not deliver our email, sporadically, it appears.
The problem we have is that we deliver a lot of volume of email from multiple sites of ours. That tends to get flagged.
Want to try something? Setup a different yahoo.com email address and then update your profile on TGO to reflect your new email address. See what that does. There are several members who have done this, and it works.

Re: Anyone else having probs with notifications?
There have been problems reported about not getting E-Mail notifications from TGO for over a year now. I seem to get the E-Mail notifications when it comes to my incoming PM's so I can't add anything about those. I did trac the problem with "missing" notifications resulting from the threads I post to back to the fact that the TGO system doesn't place all those threads to my susbscription list. ( my user CP options are set to include ALL threads onto my subscription list.) Why it only places some threads on my list and not all of them - that's the million dollar question !
You could also check your subscription list to be sure that any posts you write to get added to the list - or just add them manually every time you write to be sure they get placed on your list, OR; Click your username & than "find all posts by" to revisit threads you posted to if you wish to see if anyone else has updated the thread since your last post. It's not much of a work-around but better than nuthin' !
Hope that helps !

Re: Anyone else having probs with notifications?
We have had a lot of email issues in the past. I don't deny that. I'm not in charge of our email service, so I don't exactly have a stake here on the subject. Some of those email issues have been related to past ones; some have not. Some have been a temporary occurrence. But I don't think we've had over a year of the same issue - non stop.
If members weren't getting email notifications for over a year, not only would there be an enormous amount of complaints, but I would not be getting (daily) email from members who mistakenly replied to those email notifications that they received from our forums. This tells us members are getting email notifications. Atleast some of them, myself included.
As to why some do, and some don't, it appears the email provider has a role. As I said, we handle a lot of email from our sites. This tends to get flagged.
You also have to remember email is not considered critical by providers. This goes for free and ISP email. You will probably find the phrase 'best effort' in the ToU.
As far as your specific issue, John, I haven't given up, yet. You may have noticed I used your account (again) the other day to try and duplicate the issue you report. However, like the past several times, I was unable to duplicate the issue. Last time, I responded to over 10+ threads and had a 100% success rate.
I don't have the figures in front of me, but I've spent some time and effort on this issue. I've logged over 50+ replies with 100% success rate. Not one fail to give us any insight.
As far as your issue John, there has to be something we're missing.

Re: Anyone else having probs with notifications?
I dunno what the problem is, but Im not really complaining. I was just seeing if this is going on with everyone else or if it's just me. Hell, it probably has something to do with hotmail. I just check my user cp and it shows up all new posts that I've subscribed to, so as long as I got that Im good.

Re: Anyone else having probs with notifications?
I know it's not an easy bug to re-create and wish that I could add more to help resolve the issue. I did see that you accessed my account again and can only wish that the problem gets found sooner rather than later.
I didn't get a notification of the updates posted to this thread. As you can see by the attachments below I've written into several threads recently and they were not added to the subscrition list. Compare the "FindPostsBy" and the "SubList" screenshots from this morning and my account problem quickly becomes obvious.
spills: It sure sounds like You is experiencing something very different. Your subscription list IS being populated / Mine is not. Your not getting PM notifications / I Am. Good Luck !
