THIRDGEN.ORG ADDICTIVE ????

that question was put to me by my paint/body man today . here is the deal , my beloved 89 r/s got t boned last may , so i bought an 88s/c . the 88 was rough and a 700r4 . came across a primo 91 r/s t-5 , had to buy it . my paint/body man was looking for a father & son project . my 88s/c was perfect project . i naturally turned the son on to this site . dad had to threaten him last nite to get him off the site & go to bed . the young man is so very charged that dad asked me if this site is "addictive" . the young man does not even have his license yet . just wanted to share this with all , puts a grin on my face every time i think about it .

p.s. i get custom paint job of my choice on the 91 r/s when i am
ready . win , win situation in my eyes .

Re: THIRDGEN.ORG ADDICTIVE ????

This site is very addicting.

I started here August of 2006 before I bought my camaro, knowing one day i'd have one. I started just looking up the basics, exhaust, headers, intake and motor types. Then I just got hooked AKA addicted to wanting to know more, and more AND more. Everytime I came on here I would learn 20 new things in 20 minutes. So to me it was fun learning so much, that well, you dont learn in school. Not to mention I was reading and learning on my own, it kind of felt...GOOD, since it wasnt someone telling me what to learn or what to read

So yes, its very addictive. Even if I dont have anything to say i go to the members section and start looking at pictures.

To bad we dont have a video section, I'd be all over that section.

P.S. Haha, I was told (Beginning of my time here) many times to get off the damn computer because I'd come home from school, go on the computer, eat dinner there, go to the bathroom then back to the computer. I never left and nobody else could get onto the computer thus making everyone mad...haha, good times.

P.S.S. Im still learning something new everyday, and in multiples as well.

Been there for several years, albeit hasn't been updated lately, especially given that hosting such material is much easier today for the user than it was back then.

No.....Not addictive at all...........

I was on the tufts.edu message board, before it became thirdgen.org. That was 10 years ago......

Come to think of it.....I'm only 4 months away from my 10 year anniversary on TGO!

Re: THIRDGEN.ORG ADDICTIVE ????

it's not an addiction i think of it more like rehab for a more serious addiction (my third gen) kinda like AA meetings where we can talk about our addiction

its nice to get on and all have something in common, and i like helping people out and like the help i get when i need it

i was a member back before i drove for a living, forgot my s/n, and dont know what e-mail addy i had it on, let alone if i still got that e-mail addy, long story short i been on since 2003, but got off of it for a while

i think i spent all night on here when i rejoined and the tech articles are great.........hell me and another guy started a local third gen car club thanks to this site, UNCLETOM is a member of our club too

not really rehab. in rehab the point is to become less addicted and eventually stop. i don't believe TGO condones that kind of non f-body behavior. I can't believe how all the posts have accumulated. I'm just not the same old newbie I used to be. I remember how exited I was when I got the "senior member" status. lol.

Lets see

2-3 times per day each for 1-2 hours

From 2-6hours a day online. So nearly a 1/4 of your days go to being online here. Sounds a little addictive. Especially if its everyday Hehe

Now me, I am on throughout the workday (8 hours) then i go home and bring up the forums for the rest of the night (or at least try to, as long as I dont go Command and Conquer) so another 3-6 hours after work i am on here.

So roughly me commenting all day I'd say i spend about 6 hours a day posting(researching as well), and the other 5-8 hours Im reading or waiting for a response.

IM ADDICTED FOR SURE. But at least its free Other addictions are expensive.

Re: THIRDGEN.ORG ADDICTIVE ????

Same here. When I joined last year, I was hooked. I'm 16 and have totally rebuilt my car just from info from this site and a little help elsewhere.

I usually spend about 1-2 hours a day on here also

I like this site because seeing everyone else post pics of their cars makes me want to hurry up and finish mine so I can drive it again. Very addictive.

Re: THIRDGEN.ORG ADDICTIVE ????

Some people call it addictive, I call it a hobby that just takes up a little more time . I have learned so much from this site. I couldn't tell you how many times I been up reading till 3 in the morning. With each search I add more to my list of things to do to my camaro. I don't think my car will ever be finally done, but that is not a bad thing.
