Well I paid nothing but my dad paid 1000 bucks back in '99 for this...Nothing needed paint and bodywork, but ran good and strong didnt have to do any engine work. Did have to repair water temperature gauge. I'll have her for 12 years Xmas 2011

@Bobby Suth
I have to say, you only paid $25 more for your car and got 4 wheel disc brakes, 5.7L , and the paint is in better shape!! I'd say you did good lol. I'm still happy with the deal I got for my car though.

If it is lowered I had no clue lol, but I don't think it id. Maybe it is just the picture.
Yeah I'm happy with it, I guess I got lucky to get this one because two days before buying this one I drove two and a half hours to buy a black IROC and as I pulled in to meet the guy I saw someone else driving the car away. That jackass sold the car out from under me after I drove nearly 3 hours! Needless to say I was pissed, but it all turned out good in the end lol.

I paid $13,000 in March of 2010. It had 28,000 miles on it when I bought it. It's now at 30,400 miles. The car is all original with original paint (minus the replaced rear spoiler) and is totally stock.

Got ripped off for $1000
I can't believe how many of these threads there are...
As I posted a couple of times now, I bought my Bird the day before I turned 18, back in 03. I don't have any pics of how she was when I bought her, but I can describe it... The driver's door, front fenders, and front bumper were the ONLY parts not in primer "because I couldn't afford to do any more" -PO. The SES light was on, both front tires were flat (put air in them to get home), there was a broken wire in the turn signal switch that shorted to the column when the left turn and hazards were turned on (left rear turn lamp signal wire, IIRC), the passenger's door didn't lock due to PO having messed with the door and sticking the lock rod INSIDE the door panel, and the ignition lock would turn WITHOUT the key, and there is still a huge dent in the passenger's fender. On the way home, the heater control valve broke and spewed coolant all over the passenger's side of the engine bay, and took 4 hours to bypass (no tools). Found out later PO had somehow knocked the front air dam off and she overheated, eventually killing the engine. My car sure as heck wasn't worth half of what I paid. Never should have given the SOB the last $200 he wanted (800 down plus 200 when I got my taxes back). She was bought with just over 194K, registered with 194,676. :edit: And, oh, those rims were there when I bought her. PO gave me 3 center caps. One came off on me in Ohio, has been replaced since, but I'm still one short.
It's been almost 8 years. In that time, I've gone through 3 sets of tires (all 4 on the car when bought were bad), an engine (replaced at 195,239.7), the transmission (replaced at 213,831), 2 belts, 3 sets of injectors, 3 sets of plugs, 2 ignition coils, 3 MAF sensors, 3 ECM's, 2 alternators, 2 batteries (well, not really, but I swapped one battery into another car I sold and bought a new one to get the Bird out of storage), a set of rear brakes, a front caliper (PS), and 2 sets of brake rotors (rust). Other replaced parts include the radiator, steering column, fixed the broken housing on the hatch motor, radio pod and console, and a set of vacuum hoses. The interior was missing a ton of hardware, especially in the back of the car, and the left rear wheel well leaked water at a joint where the factory seam sealer came off, causing a small amount of easily controlled rust inside.
Now, she's really down for the count. Reason the car was in primer was because PO had done something really nasty to the passenger's quarter panel. He replaced about a third of it behind the wheel. And then covered it in about 5/8 of an inch of body filler, which cracked on the body line and let water and salt seep in, so now there is a fist sized hole and about a foot diameter rust spot on it, with several drilled holes elsewhere to help hold the filler, I suppose. The t-tops, which PO said didn't leak, still leak, and I have the rusty floor pans to prove it (was originally an Alabama car, nonetheless
). I'm replacing just about EVERYTHING from front to rear, with the exception of the driver's fender and hatch. The Z28 spoiler that was on the hatch when purchased is gone and replaced with factory HMSL and spoiler. The suspension was the worst, every bushing being crap, and everything rusted (had to CUT an LCA right off!). The 3.1 is getting a 100HP kick in the butt (2.8 was swapped to a 3.1 by my father in 2004), and everything is getting rust proofed after it gets fixed. The only parts left attached to the frame right now are the hatch, doors, hood, and front suspension (minus sway bar and springs) with the engine. I have a pile of parts in the garage that keeps growing weekly.
The first pic was the first paint job, second was a couple months before major disassembly began, and the last pic is a few months old now... I'll try to get some new ones tomorrow provided there isn't a blizzard or anything.

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...
i just bought mine yesterday. i call it the iroc z28. It is a 87 camaro z28 is supposed to have the 305 motor in but previous owner pulled that and installed the 350 tuned port injection motor odometer reads 106000 miles even yesterday. It also has the 5spd transmission and also a posi trac rear end. Other upgrades include white face gauges brand new interior american racing rims and flowmaster 30 series exhaust i think. I am looking forward to installing many performance parts. needs a fender and some body work but for 1500 bucks i cant complain

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...
I'm the second owner, purchased in December 1989 from Piercey Toyota in San Jose, CA. 1987 IROC-Z with 21k miles.
Asking price was $14k. Paid $12,500 out the door.

The only photo I have showing the whole car is B&W. It's Bright Red (Code 81) with saddle interior; RPO-1SC IROC Package 3, no RPO-C49 or RPO-D27. Stock except for an Edelbrock Hi-Flo manifold base, SLP runners and SLP Tri-Y headers.

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...
Thank you! I'm not sure, but I guess the guy was on a budget and after dropping a lot of money on the engine, he just wanted a cheap decent paint job. He had it painted for $800 at Earl Sheib or somewhere like that down in LA. The car was originally red, but he changed the color to white because red was attracting the attention of cops too much. lol. Event though it looks like the paint job was a quick scuff and paint, it doesn't look too bad and will work for me until I can get a better paint job on it.

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...
I paid $4,000 for my ride. I've spent over $5,000 on it for labor/mods/maintenance since I bought it too. About to have my value with my insurance bumped up to $6,000.

84 firebird trans am, paid 400 for it. It also had a blown engine. Since then I've put about 600 into it. It currently has new interior and seats.

85, 305tpi/700r4, 87,500 miles. Bought 2 months for a little over 3k. It is a true yellow IROC, but the shade of yellow is a little off when they repainted it.

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...
Paid $1000 in 2006 from a local cop for my 1983 H.O. Z/28 with a 1990 RS TBI 305 in it, and another $380 for the 4th gen Z/28 rear with 3.23 gears, disc brakes and limited slip diff and a set of 4 4th gen 10 spoke 16" alloy rims. The car had been a trailered drag car for a while, with a built big block in it. The cop had bought a 1990 black RS to transfer his drivetrain into, and sold me the "orange creamsicle" Z/28 along most of the parts you see in the pics. Others were collected from the local Pick N Pull as I decided what to do with the car while it sat for a year at my friend's place out in the country.

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...
I haven't decided yet what to do with the tail lights. The GTA ones are looking worse and worse as they slowly crack and delaminate. I have a good set of IROC-Z black grid tail lights I can put on, if so I'll build a center piece from fiberglass to go in between them like the Firebird panel does, but squared off like the Camaro lights are. Or the other options are to locate another set of GTA lights and finish the body work on the back (the triangular panels would get fiberglassed into the rear fender), or build a new insert panel in place of the tail lights and put '67-'68 Camaro tail lights in it. Bottom line is I want my car somewhat unique, I'm not doing a restoration, so I'ld like some honest opinions on how each option would look.

Nice, not often you see the turbo hood on the mid years body style, I like it.
