Hey, school me on the mandatory Canadian Equipment RPO Z49? My '91 has daytime running lights, two block heater plugs (why two?) and some large springs on the wiper arms. Were these things a part of the package?

 

Spring on wiper arm and daytime running eye on dash.

I knew about the automatic light sensor, the springs may be for snow to help keep the wiper blades more firmly planted on the windshield? Never seen those before.

 

Never seen the springs before either, I wondered if they were aftermarket.

 

I've seen the sensor before but never knew what it was - figured it was for some alarm system where the installer thought it would be a good idea to put a glass sensor in the dash.

 

It is a Canadian thing eh!

 

Not just the speedo, all gages are in metric including temp and pressure. It's actually very annoying. What the heck is a kilopascal of oil pressure anyway???

This isn't much help, but I figured it post...

My car was older, but here is the "pre-delivery" window sticker for my old '84 15th TA. It was an Ontario car and the sticker was listed partially in French. Being a canadian car, it had an excise tax on the AC. My car also had the different gauges like yours, just the older style. There was a yellow Canadian sticker in the door jamb and it had that service tag holder on the dash which i'm told many of them from that area have

Off topic, but it listed "Limited edition Pace Car" on page two which I always thought was neat since it wasn't one lol...
