Just to catch up to real time, I'm only going to show the major things instead of every little thing like little clips and screws etc. So here are the first two things i had done, i had a spoiler put on, and i installed a new radio since the factory radio was broken

I also added a few things to the trunk, such as the cargo area trunk shade, and the cargo area lock/trunk shelf thingy(not sure of the real name, my dad got them at crazy rays and installed them for me)

FOX! My first car, an '83 Berlinetta, had the Fox Chevrolet logo on the same place, right on the taillight. 25 years ago. Thanks for the memories.

No problem, i actually thought it was cool because Fox Chevrolet isn't far from where i live and 32 years later the car is still here, sadly though, the fox emblem had to go, i took it off the car and put it in a book along with other items of my car

Thanks, but honestly, I'd love to have a Berlinetta, the digital dashes are neat, but my SC is a car that has no value, it means the world to me as it is my first car and my mom helped me buy it, and I've already done so much to it and have so much left to do to it, i love the car and am looking forward to the memories that will be made in and with it

Re: My 1984 F41 Camaro Build Thread

Well, i purchased new front grills for my car which cost $80 each so $160 in total and....... they do not fit, they were guaranteed 100% fit for my 1984 SC and they don't so I went ahead and returned them and took on the task of making my own grills.

I made them out of an old cutting board that i had lying around and used the new grills as a stencil and cut off a half inch off of the cardboard stencil i used since the new grills were a half inch too wide to fit on my car, here are a few pictures i took of them from beginning to end.

The original plan was to cover them wit expanded metal but i like the look of them this way so I'm going to put them on the car tomorrow with this as the final product.

Sadie(what i decided to name my car) decided not to want to start last night, turns out it was due to a bad alternator, luckily auto-zone had one close by so they overnight shipped it and it was here today, also got new belts and a new antenna, here are pics of today's work

Re: My 1984 F41 Camaro Build Thread

Haven't posted on this thread in awhile so I'm going to catch you guys up on what ive done, I haven't done anything major, but here is a list.

1. Replaced 3 broken screws on center console area
2. Re-screwed in the console to the dash(evidently someone had one or the other out at one point because 3 screws were missing underneath the dash)
3. Finished my radio setup and installed my blue-tooth setup(works great)
4. Replaced shifter bulb(so i can see that I'm in drive at night)
5. Re-fitter the pillar post moldings as they were saggy and ugly, look great now though with some new clips
6. Ordered and received lover door path panels(from mill supply, much cheaper shipping than classic industries)
7. painted trim around back glass(just to keep it from rusting, will need to be painted again when we take the back glass off the car)
8. Purchased rear window louvers, now time to try some astra hammond hardware ad see which model kit works with my louvers
9. Also got another can of R-12 to cmplete my a/c
10. found mystery hose disconnected under the dash, ill post a picture of it, but there is another on the driver side that is connected to something, its orange with a clear link and receiver on the end

That's all for now, will post pictures when this storm clears up and i can take some good ones

thank you very much, this is a very interesting build for me as it is my first car.

Now for an update, getting my IROC wheels this Friday, as well as a new windshield washer pump, new air dam, and some other misc items(pics to come maybe Monday), but i discovered this vacuum line while installing my blue-tooth system in my car, its under my passenger side dash in the floor area, if anyone knows where it is supposed to connect please let me know

Here are some pictures of the vacuum line...

I finally got some IROC wheels today, thank you very much 85@IRocZ, they are going to look sweet on my car, also got some console and dash screws. I think were getting the tires taken off tomorrow morning and then starts the striping and clearing process

Those wheels are going to look good on there.

The vacuum hose is part of the HVAC, but unfortunately I am not sure where it connects.

That vacuum line does not appear to have the length to reach the control head in the center stack, so I'd guess it goes to one of the vacuum motors in the HVAC box...mode door, blend door.

Loose vacuum lines suck.

Is there any way you could help me pin point where this vacuum line would go? Any help is greatly appreciated

Re: My 1984 F41 Camaro Build Thread

I thumbed through 5 pages of past threads in the "cooling" section (we don't have one specific to HVAC), and could not find a photo of an HVAC box removed from the car...this would give you the best idea of where these motors are, so you could feel around under the dash to find them. Sorry.

If it were me, I'd check with someone doing a build, who has their dash apart, like...

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/memb...9-formula.html

...and see if they could help you out with a photo. There "might" be a good view of it in the factory service manual...I'm not sure.

If you can't find it on your own, I'd suggest a new thread with a title that will attract the right attention...in the cooling section.

I hope he's able to help. If not, we might hit Mantaguy up, and see if there's a graphic in the parts manual. I think he has that on a CD. But those photos of a box in space can be a little harder to make heads or tails out of sometimes. I thought a real photo might be the best place to start.

You mentioned in another thread that you are considering a louvered Z28 hood. IMO, they don't look right on Sport Coupes. Go with the 82-84 Z28 scooped hood.

It's not mine, but there is a guy on FB in the Maryland F-Body Club, in Edgewood Maryland, who has a factory functional glass hood for $150. Again, not mine, but it's a really good price, and it would look great on your Sport Coupe.

Attached a pic of my old '87 Sport Coupe with the 82 Z28 factory hood. Just for reference. My hood was not functional, but looks the same

If you could pm me with your number or i can om you with mine, maybe you could message the guy in facebook as i do not have facebook, but i am interested in the hood, id like to see pictures of it if he has it, and my SC has a spoiler that i put on it and i have iroc wheels to put on it so that's why i was considering the iroc hood, but if you could message that guy for me that would be great

Re: My 1984 F41 Camaro Build Thread

Super duper loud in A/C Max.

If this vacuum motor was for the door that controlled the std. A/C Vs. Max A/C fuction, then yes, this is normal.

In Std. A/C, the "air" that is drawn over the evaporator core in the HVAC box is pulled form the cowl at the base of the windshield...IE, from outside the car.

In Max A/C, you are recirculating interior air inside the HVAC box. Taking cold air, and re-refrigerating it. As that air is being drawn form inside the car, you here that air "intake" in the interior with you. Very effective, but makes more noise.

In Max A/C, you are recirculating interior air inside the HVAC box. Taking cold air, and re-refrigerating it. As that air is being drawn form inside the car, you here that air "intake" in the interior with you. Very effective, but makes more noise.
Ok, thank you very much, its been a couple days and the noise is barely noticeable, i guess I'm used to it, but it is louder than the normal ac now, so i guess my max ac wasn't working correctly before? either way all is good, thank you for the help

Re: My 1984 F41 Camaro Build Thread

Ive been thinking of pulling my cluster since it only shows 68k and replacing it with another one just in case, was recommended to me by a friend who has a 3rd gen as a show car. I wouldn't mind swapping the cluster as long as i can put in the digital cluster out of a Berlinetta in it, does anybody know if the connectors on the back are the same? I have a 1984 Camaro SC v6 and so far I've read that you have to swap it with the same year and engine model so theoretically a 1984 Camaro Berlinetta v6 digital instrument panel would be plug and play right?

Nice work! I've had a set in my garage for years, waiting for me to have enough ambition to actually start the polish process.

Thanks, I've had them for a few months now, but only spent about 8 hours with my stepdad in total sanding and polishing, they are looking good.. especially from what they were

Re: My 1984 F41 Camaro Build Thread

**** UPDATE *****

Ive been working on my car a lot recently and haven't had much time to post, the wheels are almost 75% done, i replaced the front brakes(rotors and pads) i replaced the front struts and wheel bearings, i replaced the rear brake shoes and wheel cylinders.

I have plans in the near future(within a month) to replace the rear shocks, finish the wheels, get tires, put my front wonderbar on(already have) and start the body work process.

I don't have pictures as most of the stuff done isn't really noticeable once the car is back together, however next time i should have pictures as hopefully the wheels will be done.

P.S. my 3pc louvers are for sale, check them out here..

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/exte...vers-sale.html

... if interested please om me with an offer, I'm selling them to get things moving with body work on my car and plan to buy factory aluminum ones in the far future after everything else is done

Re: My 1984 F41 Camaro Build Thread

So for this update i got both of my doors patched, i got my quarter panel patched, i got the trunk channel taken to bare metal and the two holes from where the trunk comes down filled, i got the fender lips taken to bare metal, all dents pulled and fixed, so pretty much everything except the hood has been touched and that is because i have a new hood coming in the mail, i decided to go with the RAII hood for it since i like the look of that. The car should be painted sometime in June, more pictures to come once everything is done

I also replaced the brake pads, rotors, shoes, shocks, struts, rear wheel cylinders, and all of the wheel bearings before any body work started

Re: My 1984 F41 Camaro Build Thread

So here's an update, Car is in pretty much 100% primer and ready to be painted(waiting on the hood to be finished being worked on) and i got my wheels finished and got some chrome valve stems, chrome lugs, chrome lock lugs, and new center caps for them. They turned out great... needless to say i am happy, here are pictures of the wheels.

Re: My 1984 F41 Camaro Build Thread

Thank you all. I will be posting more pictures as soon as the car is all together before paint with the old wheels and after paint with the new wheels. I am very excited to see how it turns out. I did not want to do a complete IROC clone because it is only a six-banger, but i wanted to make it my own and make it different so i think by adding these wheels and the spoiler, and the RAII hood, no gfx, and eventually factory aluminum louvers it will be just that. And who is to say that a motor swap isnt to come later down the road?... just saying :0

Actually i have, I know a guy with a built 350 that he had in his vette and pulled after he got tboned by another car totaling his vette. I believe he said he was making close to 600hp on nos and just under 500hp without. He said he would detune it in my car because he had it running really rich in his vette and would have to pedal it to keep it running.

Thats about all the looking ive done, im going to have to swap a lot on my car to do it correctly, probably going to do a v8 harness swap too if i go that route so we don't have to worry about wiring problems. I really dont know much about it but i think im going to have to change my K-member, tranny, rear, harness, dash?, front springs and struts?

More info would help. Especially with pricing and time as factors as this is going to be my daily driver soon.
