Red carpet in a black interior?

Anyone have any pics of their cars that they put red carpet in an all black interior or something similar? Would like to hear some of your opinions on it or see some pics

I'm in the middle of patching my floor pans and would like to put red carpet in to spice things up instead of black. Thanks

Re: Red carpet in a black interior?

I'll post some pics tomorrow. My whole interior was red. I didn't like it that much. As I was getting everything I needed to go black, I wondered the same thing you are now. So I did it. Kinda. You'll see. But I like it a lot. Red carpet, black plastic, custom made camouflage seats and sail panels, and custom made camouflage door skins. Just gotta get black arm rests.

My GTA is the opposite, red seats and door panels with black carpet and headliner.

Re: Red carpet in a black interior?

I'm in the process of doing almost the same thing. Carpet, door sills, kick panels, and lower sail panels in red, everything above that in black. I'll be making custom door panels with red on bottom, black on top, and custom seat covers in black with red inserts and stitching. After that, I plan on keeping the factory metallic red paint in the sides, and painting the hood, roof, and hatch black. The black will continue down the nose to the body line under the headlights.

I pretty much sold a car once because the interior was red. Stay with black, it matches any color

Re: Red carpet in a black interior?

That sounds pretty sweet 92 Rd.
I took pics with my gf's phone. Better camera. Waiting for them to all download to Mine. It's slow today. But I'll have them soon.
Mine is white with t-tops. It had all red interior except for dash and console. I considered changing the outside to black but I had to improve the interior first. Then as I changed my interior, the white looked better and better. All that's red now is the carpet. Looks good I think. I'm a red neck so I know not everyone will appreciate the camouflage. But it's my car. I have TPI and I'm doing all blue accents under the hood. I'm also getting into hydro dipping and I'm going to try to do my extra hood louvers in camouflage. As I said. *******!!!

I do agree with black matching anything but I do like the red thirdgen interiors. All I really want is just a red carpet, all the plastics and such would remain black.

Re: Red carpet in a black interior?

Nice used ones are pretty much extinct around here. I'm not sure how dying or painting a light colored one would turn out. It might be worth a try for the price. I've got lots of red plastic but I'm surprised at how much red plastic can fade!!

I have Red Interior / Carpet, and to give it a custom look I replaced my Red Seats w/ Black Rally Sport ones, and the rear bench was done custom

Re: Red carpet in a black interior?

The black really makes the red POP. ALL red was a little too much for me. IMO nothing goes better with red than black!!!! Nice job!

Re: Red carpet in a black interior?

Thanks 92rs! I even have hand stitched camo Sun visors thanks to my awesome gf. I just need black arm rests.
I hunt and fish all the time. I questioned the whole camo thing from the start. Still do. But people like it. Or they're just being nice. Lol. But thanks.

Re: Red carpet in a black interior?

It's different cheveyitis90, and when things are different they stand alone. I don't think I've seen a ThirdGen w/ an interior like yours so I'm not being nice, I'm being real when I say it's nice. I'm thinking of doing red bowtie emblems centered in the black portion of my custom rear bench...

Re: Red carpet in a black interior?

Thanks again! My interior was pretty rough when I got her. I started looking at used and New parts and realized how expensive it was gonna be going original. The engine is still tpi but far from original. So I decided I could do what I want with the interior. So I did.
I'm Not into a lot of what I see guys doing with their rides, but I appreciate and respect the hard work and imagination they put into it. And I see that they're happy.
I think bowtie's look really good in an interior. I'm trying to incorporate some in mine. I think yours is an excellent idea 90RSHeritagEd. I really do. And that will make your ride be more yours!

The guy has those same door skins but I have power windows so I'm not sure I'm going to get those, depends if he makes a good deal on them as well.

Today I'm going to pick up the interior, he said he hasn't had the time to pull the rear end out of the car yet which is understandable. I'm gonna give the red interior a shot and if it ends up being too red like others have said I will sell it along on here or even trade for a black interior. As soon as I get back home I'll order the red carpet as well so hopefully by next week I'll have some install pics for you guys

Re: Red carpet in a black interior?

This is the car it's going in, this pic is about 2 years old after I did all the body work and primed it, I still never painted it so I'm gonna have to strip and re prime after this is all done and then get it painted some time this year

I used fabric interior paint and painted all the plastics and carpet in this car black 2 years ago, these door skins have held up very well to this day so they will stay

The back seats I got out of a junkyard iroc if I remember correctly, the panels and carpet were all gray but I painted them. The paint didn't hold up well on those panels even with the prep work I did so this is why I'm now opting for the full red interior. The carpet may look decent in that pic but it is absolutely trashed in the front from 30 years of wear

Re: Red carpet in a black interior?

This is the rot that I cut out last weekend, I also cut out several other bad spots after this picture was taken. I have yet to weld in the larger patches but they're cut and trimmed to size

This is one of the patches I did get done. Don't judge on the welds, I couldn't fit my head and the mask in that tight space to get clean welds. This was the hardest patch to due to its tight space and odd shape

What kind of paint did you paint your intake parts with TylerSteez? I'm thinking I want to paint mine.

It was a satin black, I think I used a satin black Rostoleum can. It's holding up pretty well but any time you take the plenum off you're garunteed to have to touch it up again

Re: Red carpet in a black interior?

Well here's the red interior I picked up for $250, getting the rear end as soon as the guy gets it out of the car it's in, once my girlfriend saw it she said I should do a black carpet since I now have all red panels and red seats, what do you guys think?

The red and black in the GTA I posted farther up has kind of grown on me. Originally I didn't think I would like the mix but it's kind of nice

I do like the color contrast in your pic but it's hard to judge off of one pic, I'm starting to lean torwards black now

Re: Red carpet in a black interior?

Here's a big update: I got my patch panels welded in and sealed on he drivers side

Welds aren't as clean as I could of made them, not used to my dads old Miller after using a brand new Lincoln electric for a while at work

I went a little crazy on the seam seal since it was old and chunky as well

Yesterday I started pulling up the rest of the carpet and ran into this...

Really didn't think it was this bad, the underside looked solid except for a couple small holes. I'm ordering a new pan and will have to weld that in

I'm gonna have to hold off on going further with the interior install until I fix that. Today I gutted the whole interior except for the dash and center console, gonna pull the center console out tomorrow. Also found a dead mouse in a nest of carpet insulation tucked away behind the back seat plastic below the speaker. He must have Been dead for years because I never once smelled him lol

That double floor pan fooled me too. It looks good underneath but when I was changing seats, two of the seat mounts were rotted out. Nothing surprises me with this car anymore. If I were paying a mechanic, I'd be over 10k by now. It's getting frustrating!!!! I need therapy!! Lol

I know the feeling lol, haven't had a mechanic touch it yet just because of the money saved from doing it yourself. I also enjoy doing the work as a hobby, its a labor of love for the thirdgens

Re: Red carpet in a black interior?

todays update:

got the center console out and then removed the last remaining piece of carpet. I imagine its gonna be a pain in the *** making all the holes in the carpet where the center console area is. also started snipping at the rot to see how the subframe held up, sub is perfectly fine.

Re: Red carpet in a black interior?

Man removing this floor pan is getting to me, especially in this heat. Anyone have any tips on seperating the pan from the bracing that connects the pan to what I'm assuming is the firewall sheet? I got it separated from the subframe without any issues.

Re: Red carpet in a black interior?

Well this is where I'm at now, got the majority of it all cut out and seperated, just have to seperate the last little bit connected up front and then remove all the spots still on the subframe. Then it's grinding and weld prep time. Also see that I have to make a patch for the side of my rocker.

Re: Red carpet in a black interior?

Here's an update, been busy at work so not much work has gotten done on this but I did get all the rot out, wire wheeled down the surface rust and neutralized it and then sprayed rust oleum over it.

Also got my replacement floor pan from beths91camaro cut to shape. Just gonna clean the funk off the new pan and paint it. Then it's weld prep and weld time

Re: Red carpet in a black interior?

Got the new pan welded in, seam sealed, and painted. Just have to wire wheel a couple more spots, find where the waters coming in, and then the new interior can go in. Definitely the home stretch

Re: Red carpet in a black interior?

Idk what would cause thi

s, almost looks like bad factory paint adhesion in the trunk pan. The whole pan was covered in bubbles but I'd say only 50% of the bubbles actually had rust underneath. This is after I wire wheeled them off
