ConvertiblesDiscussed here are problems and solutions to convertible specific questions, including difficult to find part numbers and other convertible tech help.
Can anyone provide the part number for the label/decal that is placed behind the rear license plate on the convertibles? I have gone through the ASC schematics and I do not see it there.
I see there is a seller on ebay that has them for sale and would like to know if that is a fair price or not. Also does anyone have some originals or good reproductions available.
Re: Caution Do not Open Trunk With Tonneau Ajar Label
I would think if Camaro's had the label then Firebird's would also, maybe your car has a replacement rear bumper cover or new paint? The label I have was on the bumper cover behind the rear plate. I cut that piece of the bumper cover off the donor convert to keep the label, there was another label about "convertible top operation" that I don't know where it goes possibly on the drivers visor? I started this project about 18 years ago and put this stuff in a bag without any notes. I did buy 2 of those convertible supplement manuals.
Re: Caution Do not Open Trunk With Tonneau Ajar Label
Birds came with them for sure. Mine was yellow on one vert & white on the other. I have a feeling they were ALL yellow at one point.
I thought there was a guy in here out of Chicago who reproduced these.
I have his information someplace on my phone with a cell #
Re: Caution Do not Open Trunk With Tonneau Ajar Label
My '88 and '89 Camaros have two different ones. My '88 has the yellow caution label and my '89 has the white caution label. Mine are both original cars. Since Camaros and Firebirds were both made at ASC side by side I can't see why they would use different color labels on the Camaros and Firebirds. I think they used whatever label they had at any particular time on both.
Re: Caution Do not Open Trunk With Tonneau Ajar Label
1987 Iroc 'Verts had a yellow sticker on the bumper cover behind the license plate, the other decal on Convertible Top Operation was on the underside of the tonnea when you open it, on the drivers side, or that is where it is on my '87.
Re: Caution Do not Open Trunk With Tonneau Ajar Label
Interesting. My original 91 TA convertible does not have the caution label; just the operation label. Guess I should find or make one since it looks like it was never installed on mine. Maybe the "production" cars in 91 and 92 did not have them. Anyone have a 91 or 92 that does?

my original beat up faded white one measures about 1.5" tall (+/- 1/16th) and 5.25" long I have a couple of new ones stored away. one is NOS the other is a supposed NOS off e-bay I don't know if i can tell much of a difference between the two other than one is more bright yellow (hard to say if its a reproduction or could just as likely be that ASC just changed printing suppliers at one time)
