I am in process of getting my car painted after an accident and I want to go original. I have a 1982 Firebird Trans am with the original Spectra Red color. I am trying to find out if this car was originally single stage paint or base coat/clear coat paint?

 

I believe it was single. They started to put a clear coat on in 86.

Do you by chance know what specific type of paint was used for the spoiler wing for the 82 firebird trans am? I want to tell the body shop to paint it exactly the way it was originally painted to be. Is there specifications I should be telling?

Cause honestly I am not sure if its semi-gloss with orange peel or anything like that?? :/

 

 

Satin for side mirror and wing... Single stage for paint. Let me know if you have any more questions

Thank you for posting these beautiful pictures of your car! I can see that you have either worked hard to make it look so good, or you went back in time to JUST buy that car

I do have a question though. You said the rear spoiler and side mirror is satin.
But I was going to use PPG paint DBC single stage. They have a black, but that is code 19 which is the ACTUAL color of YOUR car. Do you have specifics as to what code or color scheme the rear spoiler and side mirror would be. Should I tell the paint guys ":satin black single stage PPG", or should i get more specific?
