Did I order the wrong oil pan? Timing cover? Gasket? All the above?

Ugh... this is not going well.

I have a 1984 L69 that I was freshening up before installing it in my Firebird.

I ordered a new oil pan and timing cover, as well as a gasket.

Went to install it all and the pan just won't fit over the gasket.

I had triple checked everything before ordering... so now I'm lost.

What did I order wrong? And what do I need?

Big surprise. Sorry for the dumb questions... but so can I not use the pan? Or do I just need the gasket you've posted to mate that pan to my block?

You just need a different gasket, there is a small front and large front seal looks like your pan uses the older style small one. Iirc 55-74 or so

Thanks for the advice Tuned... that gasket (34509) fits the pan perfectly!

But...

the dipstick hole is on the wrong side.

So, third time's a charm. I need the 2-piece rear main seal, thin timing seal, and passenger dipstick hole.

Damn this is getting pricey. Anyone need one of these gasket sets? lol
