VIN 7 should be a Crossfire but that looks like a carb to me. Would they have changed it at MSE?

Man I would LOVE to save that car. I had an 84 MR MSE about 12 years ago. Black over silver “war paint”, 350/automatic. Dennis Mecham lives about 15 minutes from me. Super nice guy. I still have the complete NOS decal set I got from him.

Yea but that air cleaner signals the L69 engine so it would be a bit better than the crossfire.

Re: ALERT: 1983 MSE at Salvage Auction
That air cleaner was used on 1982-1984 LG4s AND L69s. I’ve heard the very early production 82 LG4s used a flat good and standard air cleaner, but I’ve owned multiple LG4 cars in addition to L69 cars that had the factory air induction unit

You are totally correct and I just searched (which I should have done in the first place) and found the info here: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/hist...-trans-am.html

Re: ALERT: 1983 MSE at Salvage Auction
Sorry that's Misinformation on "early Production" cars
For 1982 Firebird line:
1982 Trans am with LG4/LU5 with WS6/WS7 PKG received the functional cowl induction hood by default.
1982 Trans am with the LG4 ordered WITHOUT WS6/7 suspension received the 14" N89 KITT wheels and base firebird "Flat" hood and sealed air cleaner lid
This was for 1982 only. In 1983 ALL trans am's received the cowl induction hood regardless of what V8 and suspension it had

Can you show me a 1982 with a functioning hood, that is not modified, I have never seen one, other than on a CFI car.

Re: ALERT: 1983 MSE at Salvage Auction
Been YEARS since I had a 1982 T/A LG4 car, Most 82's I have pick up for parts recent years have been the LU5 cars, Like I mentioned I have parted out several '82 T/A's with LG4/WS performance and they ALL had the functional hood and open air cleaner, Didn't think it was a big deal to me with those options just another "parts car" it was stripped and crushed
I do believe I still have a few of the air induction units that attach under hood and its a circle opening, NOT oval like on the LU5 carsBut IIRC last one was a
1982 Trans am
LG4 "H" code on VIN
Super T-10 4 Speed
WS6
Functional bulge hood with air induction unit
Car was sitting for YEARS on a hill in Missouri unmolested when I picked it up. I remember it was REALLY molding and mildew lol
Dave
P.S And I think your the guy from Washington who "stole" that CLEAN LOW mileage black and gold 82 T/A T-top car from Iowa years ago ??. Was about to fly up pick it up, But dealer said it was sold to someone out west coast

Yes, that is me, I still have it, I think it has 41k miles now, it was not perfect, I mean it was a very good deal, it has a few rust spots under the hood by the latch, witch is odd, and the drivers door has been repainted, also, the drivers mirror was broken, the cable had snapped. But it is in very good shape for its age. I fixed the mirror, and some other minor stuff, also ended up replacing the fuel pump and the intake gaskets. It runs good, no crossfire stumbles or crappy idle etc.

This car was supposed to be auctioned today. Anyone know what it went for? I was interested but the listing said CA buyers only.
