The plate with the oversized opening will be up before the end of the day.

Make sure you measure the radio before you order a bezel.

Although you can always file the bottom edge of the opening down to fit the oversized radios.

Thanks for your hard work...also I am so copying you and getting one of those radios hell I may by one for me and one for my wife's trailblazer since she needs a new radio as well. Before I was looking at getting an Android auto radio but those are all kinda costly.

No kidding, hope the price difference is based on the quality of the print.

it shouldn't matter what the finished plate looks like, you can always spray it with a factory looking plastic coating.. on the camaro anyways..

Reverse plate files have been updated to put the tab on the correct side.

Also finish the paint on the bike parts. More time for car stuff. For those interested pic attached.

Re: Double Din Radio Bezel

Got my stuff last night. I think it turned out very nice. I have some texture paint to coat it with to match the rest of the interior pieces. I need to adjust my radio a bit and get the spacers in for the climate control and this piece should fit right in.

Thank you for your work, I updated my first post to include the information on the files you contributed, and the ones from Cehbra as well. That way everyone doesn't have to dig through three pages to see what worked or didn't work.

Is there only one option for the 2din? My HU is 10mm too narrow(170mm x 95mm).None of the 3D printers seem to offer this.

Thank you, sir! Really great thread! I think we got the double DIN problem solved pretty well. Just the texture finish left.

The standard double DIN opening is 180x100 mm, so any HU that is slightly smaller than that will fit. If you don't like the gap on each side you could fabricate a frame of some black material that fits flush on your radio and covers that gap from underneath the bezel.

Re: Double Din Radio Bezel

Got the double din bezel filed and fitted to the car. I got the spacers on the climate control. Everything is fitting very well. I'm very happy with this piece and those spacers are not something I would have thought about till after the fact. Those put that climate control right where it needed to be. I still need to texture coat and paint the bezel. Here are some pictures. I'll post more when I get finished.

You got the Dual Gate shifter. I'm jealous.

Yep, I followed the first link in the post and it took me here...

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2194376

So then tried to "Order this printed" through 3Dhubs and it shows a bulbasaur file that i'm ordering not the bezel.

Maybe I'm looking at something wrong, which wouldn't doubt

Sorry for the confusion, yes I have gotten it now. Just get an error from 3dhubs that the file is to large for printing but the other two vendors apps work fine.

do you have the 3d file for this

I was wondering how you liked your radio darkangel. I have been thinking about doing a double din for some time now and that HU looks nice. Also never having anything printed or even looked at the files are the hvac spacers in that file for the reversed print?

I really like the head unit. its currently in my truck. The reversed plate does have the spacer files available to download/print.

I’m not a fan of the flip, I’ve been doing car audio over 20 years and might just be stuck in old ways, but I do appreciate what it takes to put something somewhere it wasn’t designated to be. Congrats on the hard work.

I ordered one and got it today. I used 3dhub
$22.62 plus shipping.
I wasn't satisfied with the one he sent. He's remaking and sending. The first one was set up and has a wavy texture on the front. He says he change the setup so front is flat.

The textured finish would be okay if the gloss could be toned back.

This is really cool, especially the option of putting the HVAC controls on the bottom! I only see that option for the Camaros though. What about firebirds? Would love to have the controls lowered and be able to put in a nice double DIN.

Great work guys!

Re: Double Din Radio Bezel

It's a lot harder to pull an inverted hvac mount off in the firebird since it uses a pod rather than a solid console like the camaro does. You'd have to cut away a lot of the rear structure in the pod and rebuild it to support the higher weight centre of the new stereo location. Not saying it can't be done, just that it's a lot more involved.

You could install a removable Ipad with a cutout for the hv/ac behind it. It could be a real nice setup. Look up Ipad mount kits under soundman ipad slider kits on internet. Quite a few install videos on of it on youtube. Steve Meade on youtube posted a setup you could use just this morning.

Maptechenterprises has some nice single din hu mounts for both our camaro and firebird/ta for a easy custom look.

Re: Double Din Radio Bezel

Didn't even think about the Firebird having the pod as being an issue. Good point.

I actually just installed a standard size Sony with the build in 40w RMS amplifier. Eventually, a double DIN setup would be nice but I'm okay for now.

If i have a Firebird laying around, I'm sure i can come up with a printable kit to do this. At this time i just don't have access to a Firebird to do so.

Re: Double Din Radio Bezel

I recently got a 3d printer as I really wanted to get into making parts for my camaro. This is one of the mods I really wanted to do but I was wondering and sorry if this is a stupid question; since I printed out the radio Bezel itself and painted it with texture paint I also printed the spacers for the reverses Bezel and was looking for more insight on how 7thdarkangel used the spacers? Again sorry if this is stupid question but any insight is appreciated!

Check out post 67 and 69. If those pictures aren't clear enough ill dig the parts out and snap some better pictures. My car is currently living in a bunch of boxes.

Finished bezel looks good. Nice work. What material did you end up using?

Thank you I must’ve missed the picture before with the spacers I can see them better now. I was going to print it in abs but being new to 3d printing I felt the pla was pretty durable and just went with that. I’m very happy with it and thanks for your work designing the Bezel it’s very nice!

That looks really good. What specific texture paint did you use?

I used SEM Texture Coating 39853. I test mounted it in the car and it matched really well and looked almost stock. Here’s another pic...

There is a little modification neeed to move the heater controls down but anything custom needs a little work. Overall if I could just get more time to finish things up it’s going to turn out well.
