Can't wait to see the final product after the molds are done! I can tell the 3d printed face place I had made will get brittle around the screw holes after only taking it off twice.
So here is where I'm at. parts are coming out decent. I'm having an issue with incomplete parts getting made. ill be working to resolve this issue. But other than that texture and size look good.
Got mine ordered too. Who knows when I'll get far enough on the car to do anything with it, but it'll be there on my shelf of parts waiting when I do

Any suggestions. Have been out of the car audio for over 20 years. I miss the IASCA days.
It's an older model now, but several of the guys in my truck group ended up with the pioneer avh-4200 after one person got one & we rode in his truck. I have one that's been in 2 different DD's with the original intent of it eventually ending up in my third gen. I'll probably go with a newer version now, mainly for the wireless android auto, but also because I don't intend to get rid of the current DD. Whatever you end up with I highly recommend getting one with android auto or apple carplay.
So. My dilemma is which way to go. If anyone has done this is their any advantage to reverse the position of radio and ac vs stock location? Is mounting the unit easier one way or another?

Last time I was messing around with HVAC controls on my 91, the electrical harness and vacuum harness were not long enough to move the entire assembly to the bottom. I may revisit this again when the weather breaks here. Its been over 5 years since I messed with it.

I tried the A/C on the bottom and my Pioneer radio is to long for it to work properly.
I had the top version printed myself awhile back but after taking it in and out of the car a few times now its about destroyed. I was hoping to get an official version from this thread, but its sounding like maybe not...
If there is enough interest in the standard hvac 2 din plate, I could have parts ready in about two weeks or so. (I have a backlog of parts going in and out of the cnc right now.)

Already bought one of your current plates, but I'd be interested in one of those just so I can have options when it's time to install my new system.

I would like to order one also. The ebay link had 0 items listed...is there an updated link where I can check out and buy your product?
More will be listed this week. I list them as I make them.
This will be the last batch of the reverse plate until i remold (mold expired this weekend).
I have made a website of the recommendation of a few members on the board as well as some of my colleges. I'm using this site to collectively display/offer the many things I'm currently doing as a word of mouth thing.

yes i tried to install a reverse and could not because the radio i have is very deep and there is a metal bracket in the dash that would not allow my radio to be moved to the reverse position so i had to stay with the standard. so it may depend on what radio you have.
Dark thank for you work i will be buying a standard when you get them up for sale.
Got my reverse in. Looks good, but there are some what look like fingerprints all over it which appear to not come off with cleaning. I will be buying the standard version next week when it comes out, but I sure hope these fingerprints arent on the next one since that is what is going in the car.

The marks look like mold release still on the part. It should come off with a mild dish soap.
Ill look into fitting them in the ultrasonic prior to going out to make sure this doesn't continue.
Ill also double check with the supplier on that material lot.
I'll try something a little stronger than Interior cleaner and see if it comes off, I wasn't sure if it was something in the plastic so I was giving it time to dry. Overall the quality is really good, and it appears to be stronger than the pretty expensive 3d print I got. Can't wait to test fit the radio again and see if I can pull it off. Probably not, my radio is super long
Standard double din plate are going to be running later than expected. Fried my 3d print and am now waiting on parts to show up to fix it. Once he parts come in it will only be a few days until they would be ready.

Thanks again.
I'm a little late to this party but I would like to get two(2) of the standard double din plates when you are back in production. I saw only the reverse listed on your Unleaded site. Is there an official way to place my order or is this forum post where I start?

Thanks for all the effort developing this.
Mike
I'm still working on the molding for the standard double din plate, Once the parts are being made, they will be added to the site and I will post on the forum.
Just placed order for two of the reverse plates as well. I want to have all options open when I attempt DD install. While I am waiting for your manufacturing stream to resume I will do some shopping for a new device. I read a huge chunk of this thread last night till I got too bleary eyed. I remember there were some caveats regarding front bezel size fitment with the opening of early design plates. Up to what what size does the reverse and standard plates fit around?

Thanks for the order.
The opening on the plates measure 4.00 x 7.06(just added this to the site). Should fit most of the non standard Chinese units this way. The metro kit(standard opening) i had bought for my truck had to be shaved to fit the non standard size head unit used in the install guide(no modifications where needed to fit the camaro bezel).
Hoping to have parts being made for the week end. really close. just have a some corners giving me a hard time.
How difficult would it be for you to leave the heater control panel blank (solid) for Vintage Air controls? I need that and the cup holder/ manual shift plate console cover.

Making one off would be easy. About 30-60 min in the cnc. If you have hole locations I can do that while its in the machine as well. PM me for more info.
As for the cup holder, if you are looking for just the astray section ill be offering that soon. the prototype I'm working on is coming along very well. if you are looking for a complete one piece shift plate, it will be a little bit on those. i have a decent amount more R&D work to do on them as well as how complete I'm going to offer them.
i post project updates on the Unleaded Designs facebook page if you want to keep an eye out. Once things are ready ill post around the forum as well.
Well finally got the corners straightened out. The standard orientation radio plates and ashtray cup holders will be available by the end of the month. Just need to finish up the tooling on the radio plate and a quick install write up on both. Thanks for bearing with me.
Next I'm going to finish up an option for a complete shift plate made to order both standard and auto, reproduction manual metal boot ring, (I'll make a different thread for those) and possibly a 85-92 firebird radio plate.
Thanks 7thdarkangel I just ordered a reverse from you on ebay. don't yet have the Iroc but should be picking it up tomorrow.
Will likely be taking the car on the Hot Rod Power Tour and couldn't imagine going without some phone integration and a touchscreen.
