I'm in the midst of swapping out manifolds from the stock one to the 3860 high flow base. There's a provision for something back by the distributor .I have know idea what it's for .It almost looks like the port for an EGR, but obviously it's not. Its kind of on the side just behind the last two ports on the right side of the engine. Is this something I need to make a blanking plate for?
This just gets better as it goes along. The ignition module is hitting the manifold because the top of the rear ports on the left side are to high .How is that possible on what was supposed to be a factory fit manifold from what I gather .Have any of you had this issue?
Ignition module, ie on the distributor? Or the coil bracket doesn't fit now? Coil bracket is pretty normal. The distributor should clear, the intake casting should be milled away to fit. There is a shorter small cap V8 distributor that was used on some TBI cars. I could see that version potentially not fitting.
I ended up grinding a little of the manifold off. Its interfereing with the electrical connection on the black module that's under the cap where the two electrical connectors for the distributor plug into
That part shouldnt be over that part of the manifold. It faces point more towards the drivers seat like the picture. If your over the manifold with it then your distributor is off by 2 teeth or your wires are started on the wrong points on the cap
