1) It has the wing extensions on the door, which I thought were done after '87.

2) Cowl painted black, which again I thought was done after '87.

I don't know it the cowl process was different coupe to convertible, or Chevrolet to Pontiac, but my '88 has the cowl blacked out.

It also has the door decal in the front instead of the rear and obviously the wrong rims.

Brian, the ad states that the car was repainted 15 years ago, so they screwed up the decal install.

Those are the base IROC wheels for '88, though.

The spoiler extension was carried to early 88 I thought/I’ve been told. This would be the 4th 88 I’ve seen with them.

Cool! I've never seen anything other than an '87 with them.

Those are not the base Iroc rims for 1988. My 88 had the base 15 inch Iroc rims and they looked just like the 16 inch rims but where 15 inch in size. Those are Sport Coupe rims.

Here is what the 15 inch base Iroc rim looked like.

Those are the base 15" IROC wheels for '89 and '90. The '88's used the old Z28 wheels as base wheels.

That’s right.. I have an 88 brochure that came with my car and there is a pic of a white Vert just like that with the base 15” Z28 wheels and I believe it even says “shown with base 15” alloy wheels” in the pic..

I have that same interior for 1988 and my door pulls/arm rests are gray (the same color as the seats).. these are dark gray or black.. they might have been swapped

Re: '88 IROC 'vert. Coupla strange things.

Weren’t the TBI cars supposed to come with the 85 MPH speedo as well? Or did that change for 88.. This one has the 115 MPH that the TPI automatics came with..

The stripe kit looks to be 88 even though the decals are positioned wrong..

My 88 does not have the wing extensions on the doors and My ASC sticker says it was converted April 1988.

Here’s the pic from the 88 brocheur which is pretty close to this car and if you look really close there are wing extensions in the picture.. They must have had these ready to print in 87 I’m sure..

I'm also assuming the arm rests were swapped. I believe the 85 mph speedo went away after Jan 1986.

I did not know that! I have never seen an IROC with those rims. Only the smaller 15 inch Iroc rims.

Probably because it was only in 88 and not common because who would pass up the polished 16” wheels, really..

True! The whole "look" of an IROC-Z was based around it's 16" wheels and Gatorbacks.
