I am rebuilding a 1983 firebird F body. It came with a stick shift and a 6 cyclender engine.
18 years ago I put a GM 350 and an automatic tranny. I just had the engin rebuilt and am switching it back to a stick. I have a T5 borgwarner transmission, poss rearend and bell housing from a 1992 Iroc. When I bolt everting up the transmition sits on a slant. I have a bell housing that makes the T5 sit straight but it is not set up for a Hyd clutch. Can I hook this transmition with a manual clutch is so what do I need. The bell housing that works just has a hole in the side for the fork? Any help would be appreciated. This is my first post so if I didn’t do this correct I apologize in advance.
Thank you very much, will the oil will still cover the gears ok? Do have a suggestion on where to get a new slave cyclender and the linkage. All I have is the pedal coming through the floor.
The splash lubrication in the third gen T5 application works fine, ( I have done sustained 140mph) but that is an excellent question.
The answer to your questions is mostly "Parts from an 84-92."
The V6 and V8 models in 84 got a pedal stud added for the 84-92 master cylinder.
Pedals for an 84-87(?) should have the same neutral lockout switch. Everything else from your car should bolt up to an an 88-92 pedals.
The crossmember for an 83-92 will fit your car ( but not an 82)
