Re: SHORT THROW SHIFTER ???

Hey, Uncle,

I'm running the B&M version. Over the years I've read that the shifter of choice seems to be the Pro, but I can't complain about the B&M.

Re: SHORT THROW SHIFTER ???

now your remark is the one thats cute to me . the pro 5.0 & proform 5.0 are one and the same . Proform happens to be the MFG. company , pro 5.0 is just short proform 5.0 . CUTE !!!!!

Re: SHORT THROW SHIFTER ???

The representations are sometimes just that, representations, and have nothing to do with the real product.

Re: SHORT THROW SHIFTER ???

Proform is a brand name stuck on imported knock-off performance parts. They're the ones having parts made in China, that they sell for less then the name brand stuff.

Pro 5.0 is a company that makes shifters and other billet parts. It's all higher quality then anything Proform sells.

Re: SHORT THROW SHIFTER ???

That Proform shifter from Jegs looks just like every other Proform product... It's a knock off of another company's design, or just a very cheaply made shifter.

In comparison a Pro 5.0 shifter is built like a tank. They cost another $40-60 but they're worth every penny.

Re: SHORT THROW SHIFTER ???

B&M ain't ****. I broke one(got a free replacement) bent another one(the part that goes inside the trans, another free replacement), sold it and went with the Pro 5.0. So far it has taken my abuse. It also has overthrow adjustable stoppers. B&M doesn't.

Re: SHORT THROW SHIFTER ???

No, but as a general rule, if a vendor's website has a who's who of Alibaba Made In China, polished chrome and Ebay anodized aluminum, import tuner parts, it's usually a good indicator that they deal in imported crappola.

Re: SHORT THROW SHIFTER ???

The thing is that in their About Us section they stated that their parts are manufactured in Japan and/or Taiwan but they assemble them in their facility in Canada. Also its a 1 piece solid shifter which reminds me of the one I used to have before from B&M which they've discontinued it.
