Dexron VI for my WC T5??

88 WC T5. Planning on doing my t5 oil change and was going to use this DEXRON VI. But I have been reading and some people are saying that it's too thin? What is the best fluid to use?

Dexron-Mercon is Dex III. Use that. Still widely available.

Dex-VI has zero changes that would benefit a T5. Friction characteristics of III are better for synchronizers in your application.

When someone solves all drivetrain concerns in their mind with heavier lube, disregard everything else they say.

What brand would you go with personally? I'm new to the t5 so I would like to hear others preference .

Paul Cangalosi recommends synthetic fluids in his videos. He “wrote the book” on T5 rebuilds, literally. He recommended Royal Purple SyncroMax. He says he uses themin all his road race boxes. But also mentions Castrol and Penzoil.
He has several good videos on T5 rebuilds You’ll just have to get over “Eric the Car Guy” always butting in with a comment. They are very thorough videos.

The most convenient for you to purchase.

ATF is not going to break down, (warranting a switch to synthetic) in your T5,

Fluid availability is way more important (pumps are warranted in high-HP T56 applications, for example,) than fixing what isn't broken or failure prone. If you're pulling hard enough to move fluid back away from headset gears, synthetic doesn't' fix that. Pumps do, if set up right.

Cool . I think I'm gonna go with dexron III for now. RP is a bit pricey. Maybe my next oil change I will try RP. Should I jack the car up from the front or back for maximun fluid drainage ??
