Repairing two "dings" in an otherwise beautiful hood
I don't know what happened before I bought the car, but it looks like someone took the back of a ball pein hammer and hit the hood in two spots. The paint is otherwise exceptional around the car. I am hoping to find a shop that can repair just those two locations without a huge respray. I don't need it to look perfect, just really good. The two dings are on the outside of the faux hood vents. One on each side.

Do research on PDR in your area.. use someone that works on high end cars and show cars.. they use better techniques and can blend the dings making them invisible.. quick cheap PDR will still show the ding in certain angles..
A Porsche dealer would probably know a good guy.. People buy Porsches to keep..
A BMW would probably use a quickie guy because people get a new one every 2-3 years..
A body shop that does show cars would know someone as well as any high end detailers that work on rare and exotic cars. Some of those places do PDR as well..

I can't tell from the pictures if the paint is damaged or if its just dented. If theres no paint damage, what the previous posters said about finding a skilled paintless dent repair guy right. If the paint is messed up you'll have no choice but to respray the whole hood if you want it to look good. Theres really no way to avoid a 'huge respray', its all or nothing when it comes to paint.

Thanks all. I was encouraged until I read Zs's comment. I will get you all a close up but the paint is definitely gone at each spot and the edges of the surrounding hood paint can easily be seen and felt.

If it needs paint work, a paint shop can FOR SURE sand the entire hood, repair the dings, and only blend in basecoat (the red) where the repairs are, and then clear the entire hood. Then you won't have an issue of paint not matching. I'm a certified PPG painter, and can EASILY make that hood look like new with only blending color over the repaired areas.....but you won't have a choice about clearing the entire thing
You could give me that job on day one, and have it back on day 2. It'd probably be a $500 fix

That's awesome, thanks dagwood. That's in my price range for cleaning it up. I suppose as long the shop is mixing paint maybe fixing other locations on the car would be a good idea at that time as well?

If the hood needs any pant at all, there's no sense in getting PDR done. The whole point of Paintless Dent Removal is to remove dents without needing paint. If the paint is cracked, body shop it. Deep scratches? Body shop it. Deep dent? The metal is probably stretched and will need a body shop to fix, but get a PDR tech opinion before making that decision on your own.

There are some times when we have our pdr guy do what he can with a ding to begin with to speed things up for us. He's at our shop every Tuesday anyways so it works out good for both of us..
