Re: Pushrod clearence

Sometimes you need to loosen the studs and move the guide plates....are the guide plates the right size for those heads? Sometimes aftermarket heads have the valves stems in slightly different places than stock heads to facilitate port sizing, valve sizing, etc.

it's to got be the choice of parts. Either the guide plates or the rockers. Push rods are just straight tubes, and the location of the valve stems and the lifters are the last thing I would suspect. Something about those rockers or guide plates are not matching up to those heads.

Re: Pushrod clearence

The guide plates are the ones that came
with the heads. Since the engine is still on the stand. I pulled the guide plates off and still have the same problem. The push rod is hitting the intake port on the head. Def a head problem. Time to grind or look into .150 offset rockers for the intake vales.

Looks like you may have to modify the head.

Re: Pushrod clearence

What size pushrod?

its not uncommon to have to use adjustable guideplates when setting up heads. 5/16 shouldn’t have an issue but more common with 3/8” and larger

if pushrods are correct length and its still hitting i would just grind abit. Use a sanding roll
