What driveshaft length to order with Strange S60 and 700r4 trans?

I'm working to convince my wife to let me buy the S60 rear end assembly while the Black Friday sale is current. Strange says I have to install the new rear end and take measurements before they will sell me the driveshaft. I'm confused about this, here's why:
I think I have read every thread on driveshaft length in this forum and it seems that the 93-02 driveshaft is the same length ("overall" not true u-joint center-to-center length) as the 82-92 driveshaft. The difference being a damper ring on the 4th gen yoke that our 3rd gen doesn't have. TTOP350 gave a good photo of this in this thread
Strange has Part Number: U1699F60 listed for 93-02 F-bodies, so why do I have to measure it for my 89 Camaro; shouldn't this part work?
For those of you running stock location SBC, 700r4 and the Strange S60 axle, what did you do for a driveshaft?
I'm looking for a quick answer because to get the Strange Black Friday deal I have to order by Cyber Monday (assuming the wife doesn't completely shut this down ).

Re: What driveshaft length to order with Strange S60 and 700r4 trans?

I have done more digging and looked at Summit and JEGS websites, they show Dorman, Inland Empire, and Summit branded driveshafts as being the same part numbers between 83-01 model year. I talked with Strange further on this and they explained early 93 had a 700r4 and late 93 had a 4L60E. They know the distance from the S60 to a 4L60E in a 4th gen F-body, so it is possible it's the same from the 700r4 back, but don't know if the 700r4 to S60 is the same for my 89 because they haven't measured from a 700r4 and don't know if that trans is dimensionally identical to a 4L60E.
I'm only trying to order this all together to get the Black Friday 10% off, free shipping discount. So I've asked them if they'll give me the dimensional differences of the stock 10-bolt to the S60 in relation to the pinion position. I think I can take my stock measurement, subtract the S60 pinion difference, and if my measurements equal their 93-02 driveshaft I'll be set.
Of course, I'm still working to convince the wife of this purchase, so I'd take ideas on that as well

Knowing driveshaft people, I wouldn't try to order the DS until you have the trans and rear in your car, so you can actually measure. But the 3rd and 4th gens both use the same length DS, so if they know the length needed for the S60 to a 4L60E, that should probably work

Re: What driveshaft length to order with Strange S60 and 700r4 trans?

After a couple of emails back and forth with the sales rep, he was able to get some information from engineering and they have this figured out. I'll update this once I get the quote that shows which driveshaft fits the 3rd gen with 700r4.

And the wife said OK, well she didn't say No, so I'm ordering this before she changes her mind.

Got the quote, Strange engineering confirmed the 4th gen driveshaft will work on my 3rd gen with 700r4. So the part number U1699F60 fits both 3rd and 4th gen as I had hoped/expected.

Thanks!! Her biggest complaint was that she wants to go on a cruise and I keep spending money on the Camaro. Maybe I can get her something a little less than a cruise... maybe.

Hi just saw this post, I got a Strange S60 last year at this time on the same deal. I also ordered a Strange driveshaft and measured once the rearend was in place. The overall length I got was 42.250. Let me know what you come up with.
