Crank + No start 83 Transam (Carb 305)

Hey folks
Car was running great, new carb a few months ago. A few weeks ago got the plugs, wires, rotor and cap replaced, no issues. Then yesterday was a no start so replaced the distributor rotor again and it started and ran fine when hot. All AC Delco items.

Today I went to cold start it, it just kept cranking. There are no RPM's while cranking, needle is dead stopped. I can smell fuel and im confident the carb/fuel is fine.

Is no RPM while cranking (quadrajet) normal or is this a sign of no spark? Should I replace the rotor again? Cap as well? Any higher quality alternatives? any other possibilities? full distributor assembly?

Thanks in advance for any input

Check for spark on several plugs. If you cannot detect spark, verify voltage to the HEI module. This is assuming it still has the large (coil in cap) HEI distributor that was standard in 1983.

If there is voltage, check the pickup coil connections and resistance. the pickup coil should read between 500-1500Ω, with 850Ω being optimal. If all that is O.K, test the HEI module itself, and the coil.

Test means TEST, not just replace.
