need a bit o' help...
the guy promising to help me with my A/C has gotten all wishy washy on me all of a sudden. anybody know a reliable (and reasonable?) someone to take it to in the greater houston area? not afraid to help out with wrenchtime or whatever!
also, need some recommendations for an interior guy.. have been quoted a BROAD price range on restoration and am interested to see if anyone knows someone who does good work.
I'm going to go pick her up this weekend, and would like to get started on these two things ASAP! 'Priciate the help guys!

Zap, okay I'll give them a call, if they have reasonable prices and are dependable then spring branch it is!
Insofar as the interior is concerned, I basically just want to do some restoration work. I need to replace the seats, and the dashpad, for sure. I'll know more tonight, for sure but I don't think the carpet was in bad shape.. but if I'm going to have the seats out anyway...I'll be able to take a much more thorough look at it tonight and tomorrow morning and know the full extent.
1Bad, I'm basically right around the corner from there. I'm about 5 miles from 290 & 1960, just a little west of there. I'll drop you a PM little bit later tonight and let ya' know all the details!
Thanks for the help guys!

yup yup! she's not in half as bad of shape as I thought she was originally! needs some interior work, new dash pad, some vinyl trim on the doors, new front seats, seatbelts, and maaybe some new carpet.. mostly all just cosmetic upgrades! mostly, she needs a SERIOUS bath inside and out! I gotta find me a good cleaner and shampoo, I'm thinking!
runs and handles good! I have a slight problem with the shift from 1st to 2nd (it's a "hard" shift), and the tranny seems to want to hang a bit, but I'm going to clean everything out, swap all the fluids, give her a tune-up and see how she rides then. for not being truly driven or tuned for almost a year I drove back from lufkin to pasedena, then back home on less than a tank of gas and with no problems! temp wasn't an issue, oil pressure was on par, even electric all seemed to be working...with the exception of my trunk latch solenoid which looks like it might just be an adjustment issue, and the fog lamps. not sure if they are burned out, or if the switch was working, both minor issues though, to be sure!

hey all, been a few days. got the time to tear into my ride this weekend and ug...what a mess!
changed all the fluids, gave her a tune-up, charged up the AC, replaced the rear-end seal, and various assundry other things not worth metioning! now have two questions. one for the handling guru's floating around, the other for the transmission folks!
first- the car (obviously) needs an alignment, but above and beyond that the handling feels sloppy. there is play in the steering wheel itself, and at speeds (> 100mph) the car feels like it's driving me rather than me driving it. finally the steering wheel itself is very tough to turn. my question is where to begin with the handling? power steering pump? suspension itself?
second- when under torque, the shifts from 1-2 and 2-3 are both very smooth, just like one would expect from an automatic. when at a low rate of speed those same shifts kick like a mule! any suggestions?
any (constructive) advice is appriciated!

If the front end needs going through--the same guy (Love automotive--713-464-2755) I told U about for the A/C is about the only guy I trust to do it right and be fair/honest about it.
As for tranny shifts--it's been my experiance that shifting like that is pretty much normal--assume U have a 700r4--if it did not shift like that, I WOULD BE WORRIED!!! Every third gen with an automatic that I have every driven, shifts like that--except for the ones that the tranny is on the way out!
