Welcome to the squeaky, rattled world of thirdgens. Be sure to note the leaky T-tops if so equiped
If that tranny was run low on fluid for a while then besure to start saving for a rebuild. At least prepare for the worst. It may die quickly.
My transmission was in great shape till one day when the governor inspection cover worked its way loose and I lost *** knows how much fluid on the way to work. Unknowingly I tried to get around a big semi and punched it. Full throttle downshift from 4th to 2nd and the RPM's shot sky high really quick. I burned out the band within a matter of a half second.
Enjoy your Camaro. I love my GTA. Bought it in really ratty condition. No useable drivetrain, cracked block. Paint not in great shape either. But hey, it was a california car with NO rust, and aarrow straight body. Projects are great.

Since there are a few Oklahoma people here, when I was in Tulsa a couple months ago, I saw a lot of thirdgens while driving around. Much higher number of them than what I would consider normal. Some stock, some dressed up.
Anybody know why that is?
Is there an active "thirdgen" club there?

Thanks for all the replys, The car is at the mechanic right now
, it had been sitting for 5 years and needs a tune up to get everything back in order. I'll get you some pics when I get her back.
Where do you guys usually meet, I'm sure i can make a few meetings.
Yea, my buddy has a pretty stout 1980 Z28, my goal is to stomp him and I'll be happy
.
I've always been I chevy fan, just not much for cars, but I figure I can have pwer and better gas milage than my other vehicle('79 3/4 chevy).
Thanks for everything,
Kyle
