Where can I get a good paint job?

I need to get my sons 90 firebird convertible painted. Any one know of a good place. I want a pretty good paint job, not a super custom one nor a super cheapo one.

I need to do this right away so I would appreciate any recommendations

I can refer you to the guy that painted mine. don't know if he'd have the time to do it on the side, but if he's getting paid to do it I'm sure he would. if you're interested let me know and I'll get ahold of him.

OK, let me know his contact info. I certainly plan to pay for the paint job, I just wondered if someone knew someone who did good work for a reasonable price, as compared to just picking some place out of the phone book. The last ones who painted this car painted the rubber skirt along the bottom side of the ground effects. Im surprised the didn't paint the window glass too

Hey, by the way, how much did your paint job cost? Just trying to get an idea what this will cost. There are really no dents, maybe just a few door dents that could be repaired. I guess you can pay a lot for a really good shiny type paint job.

Heh, well......mine cost a couple cases of beer and the cost of paint... I got a special deal, he was trying to open his own paint business at that time and he knew my clear coat was going, so he offered to paint it in time for a supposed huge car show coming to town. They finished the car in time for the show only for there to be about 10 cars at it. Pretty ****ty deal in the end, but I got damn a near free paint job. I'll talk to my brother and get his info for you.

What color is it now? It is usually more involved and more expensive when U change colors.

A good paint job goes for about 1500.00 to 2500.00 these days.

There used to be a post in the "Private installer index (that I brought to the top--needs a sticky), for a guy that works at a paint and body shop that offered a thirdgen discount, but I looked thru there quickly and don't see it anymore.

Also, there are a couple thirdgenners that hang out at Sam's that both had theirs done at the same place--excellent work --2200.00. I can't remembe their names, but U know them--the tall skinny guy and the girl-- Kay I think it is(convertible maybe?) . also, ask that shop teacher out there--Craig--that has several cars--I think he has had some paint work done.

The color is about like Barrys, kind of a dull gray. Im thinking of more in the 1500 to 2000 range. Should be able to get something decent for that I guess. I will call you when I get back

FULL color change is gonna be kinda pricey (engine bay, water channels, under door panels). An exterior only color change won't be too bad though. They apint the door jambs, all round the hatch, and everything you can see without tearing the car apart, or popping the hood. You can get it donr for 1500 all day long with nice basecoat, clearcoat. I'm having my new toy painted right now, including body work (needs a fender and some light collision stuff), I'm paying 700 bux. But it's not a color change job. And seeing how it's white, it is cheap paint . I couldn't get my Camaro painted for anywhere near that price becasue of the color and two-tone job. But hopefully I'll be able to afford getting the Camaro painted in the next year or so..work ahs jsut been so slow , and going back to school is gonna bankrupt me (also the reason for the new toy).

The guys at SportPerfomance in Stafford did a good job on my car. I asked them the other day and they said that, depending on the amount of body work needed, their paint jobs start at $1,500.00.

The owner Andy Kimbrell is an old friend of mine and they have a new manager, Havier. If it isn't TOO faw away give them a call. 281-499-6601

They painted my car '99 and people still tell me it looks like it was just painted.

And, no, I don't get any kickbacks.
