4th genners....
This whole topic might just be me, some of you guys might agree though.
What is it with most of these guys.....they flaunt their cars. i was driving down the road and i saw an ls1 z28. I threw my hand out the window to wave at him and he revved his motor at me. C'mon give me a break, that is immature. What i do (and ive noticed with most other 3rd, 2nd, and 1st gen guys) is i always wave at other fbodies, i never flaunt or show off. they are our brothers, and we need to respect each other. It seems to me though all they want to do is race. I never race other fbodies, to me that is disrespect. This whole situation has happened many times. tell me your thoughts on this subject.

yeah
I have noticed every damn car I see wants to race me! Rather it be a mustang or a honda! Anytime I drive my car there is some ******* right around the corner trying to fly past me!
I have noticed what you are saying with other f-bodys especially 4th genners they always act like they have something to prove. I understand Mustangs revving at me everytime they see me but I expected diffrent from other camaros.
Oh well I guess not everybody thinks like us.

yeah i own both gens..and 3rd genners are just more a bit more friendlier ....even though everybody likes my 4th gen i really dont care for it ...i cant wait till i wreck my 4th gen and pull da motor and seats
but i guess a rev means to some people as a greeting
. Most 4th genners just want to race and not respect others cause thier cars are quick but dont look good as ours... you should see the way most of them act towards each other nothing but trash talkin

well i know you guys werent there to hear the guy, but he wrapped it up to like 4000 grand, that wasnt a friendly hello in my opinion, that was a "i have a ls1 and you dont". makes me want to put nitrous on my car to purge it at those guys. i can understand fbody on mustang competition, hell the only reason that gm came out with the fbody was to compete against, the mustang.

It's a different generation (no pun intended!) Most of them just throw money at their car--we have to work + struggle to gets ours to run better.
It's an "intendo instant gratification society" nowdays (or however U spell it)!
Even though many of the thirdgen owners are young-uns, they are a different breed. They at least realize that there is a difference. With a thirdgen, U can't just run it down to the speed shop on the corner and tell them to do whatever!
Thirdgenners respect our cars and other thirdgen owners--they know the drill--they have been through it, or are learning.
Fourthgenners have not had to go through the drill--it's go to the showroom and plop down some money and take it to the shop and plop down some more money. Very few actually know which end of the wrench to use!
Dang--I sound like my parents--HELP--somebody help me down off this soapbox--I'm too old to get down by myself!

Allright! everyone agrees with me! you have to be rich to amke a fourth gen run in my opinion. so if you see some one with one ( especially someone my age) you know they are rich nd spoiled! now im sure there are people out there who have bought one with their hard earned money, you know who you are, you are the guys that know that it takes hard work and money to get these cars running. and you treat it accordingly. i admire you guys.

i dont think you have to be rich to make a fourth gen run. they come with so much our thirdgens dont have it pothetic. you can do freemods and drag radials to a ls1 4th gen and run high 12's. do convertor and a cam install( which you dont have to pull the intake for) and you can run 11's. you can put a grand into a ls1 fourth gen and run high to mid 11's. so no i dont think everyone with a 4th gen that is fast is spoiled, they just took the easy way out

i dont like 4th gens because thay are cookie cutter cars, everyone has a fourth gen with the same mods, its like a laundry list. that why i decided on the supercharger on my wifes because it different. i think a fast thirdgen is more unique. when you go out to street meets its like you have to search throught the 500 ls1 4th gens with a lid and cutout to find anything different

The best thing you can do to get them back at their own game is to mod your car so that you can whoop there asses!and don't put any big *** cowl induction hoods, leave a stock look on it so that they can **** there pants when you are flying down the road and they are still sitting at the lights with there dicks in there hand!

well if you want to go up against a 4th gen Z, I personally wouldnt go up against a ls1 unless you really got something under the hood ....its just our 3rd gen cars were fast in the 80's but nowadays its just newer technology that overrules ...i can still pick on some Lt1's just for the fun of it ...but my car is slow unless i find a bad driver behind a stick. Its all good though we all in the same family....now a mustang is a different story
p.s. MMroc86 are you ready to get your *** handed to you

Ever check out corvette forums? They have stupid topics such as:
"Do you ever wave at non-corvette owners?"
"How often do you take your vette to the dealership?"
"I got beat by an import, how did this happen"
reply:
"Don't worry, you'll take him on the twisties"
Like these jack asses go road racing or somethin on the street

Stupid **** like that.
They are some of the snobbiest car owners out there, only 3rd to the viper crowd and in 1st place, BMW owners.
Don't get me wrong, not all vette owners are ******. My neighbor has a 76 and he is one cool guy, comes over and leans over my shoulder when im working under the car and gives me a hand when he has some time.
On the other hand I have two 40-ish co-workers, one with a C5, the other a C5 Z06 and the one of them just custom ordered a new C6. They both like to talk about cars but then they bring up how fast each others is, how his new c6 will have 500 hp. I ask him to race me he says he didn't buy it for that. Keep in mind the jack *** is always bragging the sheet numbers. I wish he would just shut up or run it.
Fourthgenners, I usually stay away from, their usually college ****** and I don't get along with a lot of them. Act like their **** don't stink, beat them on the streets and they give you the finger. You run into a cool one now and then, but their pretty big ******.

I've got this fantasy about building an all aluminum RADICAL BUT STILL STREETABLE BIG BLOCK and go 4th gen hunting and Corvette hunting and Mustang hunting and Viper hunting.....well, U get the idea!
Only bad thing about it would be, that it will probably always be a fantasy!

I don't get many races in my car at all.
I try to instigate them sometimes, but I don't get any returns on it. I think people see and hear it, they don't want to touch it. The import guys won't even get near it.
I've had 3 genuine races in my car that I can really recall. 1, highway run with a 240Z, I know this guy in the import world and his car is anything but slow. He took me like I was standing still on the highway in 3rd gear. Second, was another import who seen me coming on the road and turned around just to tag me at the light. He revved his S2000 (Supercharged and a list of mods that will scare anyone but the richest away) to 6000+ RPM on the street and launched without any wheel spin. It wasn't even a race for the first 60'. Fbodtrek was with me and witnessed the pure rapeage that was put on me.
Lastly, I've had a runin with a BULLIT mustang with a couple of mods. It turns out that a good friend of mine knew who this was, and knew who I was, but of course, I had no clue who he was
. Anyway, we were dead even on the highway, and its been the same for a couple of LS1's too.
In general though, I think most people are afriad to race me, even though my car is pathetically slow.

Most LS1 owners are rich spoiled mama's boys. All they do is put on a cat back and an air lid and think there fast, which they somewhat are. But they don't appreciate the creativity and thinking that is invloved to build a fast thirdgen. They look through a magazine and see a car with a combo thats fast and ask their parents for money to copy it.
Now how many times have you been to the local car show near where you live and seen several fourth gens that look similar or identical to ones in the mags. You don't get that with our cars and that is one big reason I love mine. It ain't the prettiest or the fastest (yet) but it has way more style.

I know I rev at some people as a wave, but normally my windows are down so I just hang my hand out and wave since my exhaust is pretty pathetic sounding.
Alot of people seem to want to race my car, mostly imports, but sometimes f-bods or mudstains.
Once I've got my LS1 in, I'm gonna show em who is boss

all i know is when i had my red iroc with the 388 and th-350, my wife, me and a friend with a 4th gen with a 422 and stock heads went down to jillians at katy mills. well on the way back we lined up on the feeder and from a dead stop i rolled him pretty bad because he has a 6 speed and no suspension. when we did it from a roll we were dead even. but i could have opened the bottle and drug his nutz. now every time i have raced my wifes car against my stuff i wait till i know i can beat her because she is a sore winner. now that i have my black car i dont want to have anything as extreme as the red car even though i ran the 388 in my black car for a little while, but i do want something that goes mid to high 11's on motor and then i can spray it. thats why i want to put a heads/cam ls1 in my car infront of the th-350 or a stroker lt1, but im closer to getting the ls1 done then anything

Why would you run a LS1 on a th350. They are made to run with the 4l60 or t-56 putting a different transmission on it would probably hurt performance.
But yeah, if you want a 11 sec car, all motor, get a Head/Cam/Header LS1 and you should be good to go, I'll let you know how mine runs once its finished

i ran a th-350 behind my wifes ls1 for about a year with no probs at all, then i put a 4l60 back behind and had issue after issue. plus times were better with the th-350. the 4l60 is alot weaker and a whole lot more expensive to fix. the turbo 350 is just a better option in my opinion from my personal experience. plus i already have the th-350 and stall sitting here

plus all the fastest ls1's run th-350 or th-400, rarely see a 4l60 get in the bottom 10's or high nines.

A lot of those guys don't really like it. The reason being is the stock or modified LS1 or LS6 intake flows as good or better than some carbs. They say that switching to a carb negates the benefits of the plastic intake or something along those lines.
The 4l60 is weak because it's very similar to a 700r4, even the same gearing internally. And if you have ever seen anybody with a high horsepower motor with a 700r4 behind it they will tell you it has been rebuilt a few times.

Nothing wrong with a carb on a ls1. Most people don't like it because they will tell you it defeats the purpose. Don't let anyone fool you, the advantage in power from a SBC and a LS1 is not because of the fuel injection or the re-design. 80% of that power is from the 18* heads on a ls1. Slapping a carb on the ls1 will still net you great performance.

your right pasky, but run the stock ls6 intake and ls1 fuel injection. there are plenty of cars going reallllllll fast on that with out having to screw with the carb on it

Hey I drive a 4th and a couple of 3rds and I am an *** all the time!!! lol j/k.
Actually it is bascically true. I was once told by a kid in a 99 Z28 that my car(my Firebird)was obsoulete. WTF?!?! 3rd gens unfortunetly are not really a respectable gen yet. We got all the bad things and a lot of good but many focus on all the bad crap. Hey without the 3rd gens mess ups the 4th gens would never have been what they are!!!
I still love my 3rd gens over the 97 anyday!!!

I've killed several LS-1 and 1 LS-6 car. After It's all over and they finally catch up, the 4thgen F-body guys will usually give me a rycer fly-by.
The vette guys usually pull me over and ask me to pop the hood.
I have no problem catching races in my car! ???
And everybody in a mustang or a chevy truck with a flow master always give the car pipe shots!
It's like, WTF? It's not worth the extra gas at 2 bucks plus a friggin gallon.
Oh well... if I dont get a clutch soon, I'll start driving the other 6-speed 355ci Camaro I built.

Damn this thread takes me back to like 99 when I use to post in the lounge on this board, I use to see posts like this all the time. Most all my friends now with F-cars have 4th gens and it isnt hard to see most 4th gen owners dont like the third gen cars, just like most of you dont like the 4th gens, dont be so shocked. Hell a lot of LS1 owners dont even like the LT1 cars and theres a number of LT1 guy that still dont like LS1s. Then again there are still those of who like them all regardless of generation.

Well cool then since you are big ballin' with the LS-1, why don't you buy me a clutch? !!
Prepare to shatter your ten-bolt with your new setup!
And IF your car hold's together, you should be able to get arround my car in the 1/4 with ease. Cause if ya don't then you bought the wrong parts!
And if you do beat me, then I'll just have you race Neil (white IROC Neil).

If I shatter the 10 bolt, then so be it.
If its broke, upgrade it.
And what do you mean get around you in the 1/4, I'll have you on the second yellow light and you won't see anything but taillights
And Niel, I understand what you are saying. There is a local AustinFBody Forum club and most of the people on there have 4th gens. Because of their attitude towards 'turdgens' I started ATGO. Haters
